Lasers visible when wearing laser safety goggles?

Hi just a quick question, I was going to buy a deal extreme 50mw green laser pointer and I heard that you need laser safety goggles for anything over 5mw and I was wondering if the beam is visable when wearing the goggles.Thanks

Wont be visible. The beam on my 170mW 532nm is completely invisible with goggles on

To protect your eyes in case of accidental exposure. Honestly, if you know the beam won't reflect off anything and you are sure the laser is in a stable position not having goggles is fine, just for viewing the beam that is. I tend to do that a lot with my 532nm!

Once I burn though, goggles on!

Yes if a beam is ever visible when wearing the goggles then you're wearing the wrong goggles. You can use that laser without goggles but you must be certain there is no chance of an accident, watch out for mirrors, glass, etc. Anything over 5mW can do permanent eye damage faster than you can blink your eye. Never view the dot of a laser up close, and never do any burning without the goggles, looking at the beam alone won't harm you, but if it slips out of your hand or rolls off the table and flashes you in the eye you can have permanent eye damage, so use caution.
