Re: Forum Competitions!

I think that the organizer, that in this case is gun, should receive all the the gifts and divide them for the various contests. I wouldn't want for all the gifts to go on the first contest and than for the second no one donates anything and the idea dies after just a few months.

Re: Forum Competitions!

That's a good idea Norbyx. It might be easier though if Gun just managed the list of contributors as customs in Australia might make some prizes disappear :D People could PM Gun so it's a mystery...

We could have some donations go to shipping or something

If there needs to be a holder of the bag, I am centrally located in the US. I'd be happy to handle it.

Re: Forum Competitions!

^^^ that is also a good idea... We could send a pm to gun, than we all commit in keeping the items in our possession until there is a winner, when the contest ends gun posts a message with the names of the people that need to ship out the prices and the address where to ship them. The winner will receive the various packages from various users. And gun can decide what goes where. And administrating the various gifts.

Re: Forum Competitions!

Do the prizes have to be Laser related? Because i have have a ton of brand new flashlights including maglites etc that i could put up for prizes. I also have a few sets of Bose headphones..

For the first competition i was thinking 3 prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd? Like the $250 Bose for 1st, A 3D maglite for 2nd and a smaller flashlight for 3rd?

And maybe there could be a $2 entry fee/donation to LPF. If people would be willing to stick to these terms i would have no problem donating these prizes for the first comp.

Re: Forum Competitions!

That's very generous TonyT! Infinitus Equitas had had also mentioned a non-laser related prize contribution. Maybe proof of a monthly donation could be the entrance requirement. Looks like however it turns out there will be some happy winners :D

Re: Forum Competitions!

I think the $2 entree donation to the forum is a great idea! Everybody wins in that case!

Re: Forum Competitions!

No problems,

Yeah maybe make it proof of a $2 minimum donation as a lot of people entering would probably make donations anyway.

Re: Forum Competitions!

Forum donations is a good idea, but not all of the users can donate so easy if they don't have a paypal account.

I don't think it should be a requirement to partecipate in the competition as the ones "donating" the prizes are forum users.

I have been on other forums where you can't participate in free givaways unless you are a active donating member, but in that case the prizes were donated by forum sponsors and forum owners.
Nothing like in this case.

We (the users) are the ones putting the prices on the table, that alone is a donation to the forum, since we are making the forum more atractive for all the users.

The participants will just have to post their submisions to the contest and see if they can get to win it or not.

That's a fair point Norbyx. No members should be excluded for lack of a PP account. That would be fair. I take the PP thing for granted.

Re: Forum Competitions!

Well, the only reason i suggested the donation requirement is so that the forum can make some money to help with admin costs etc.. I am not financially involved in the forum in any way and would not be participating in the competition in any way(apart from giving prizes) and to be honest, i would only donate the prizes if the forum was actually going to benefit financially? This would be a way to make the forum stronger!
And to those who could not pay through paypal (like myself) maybe other members could make the payment for them and then they could just bank deposit into the members account, or money order, etc..

EDIT* and i am also sure everyone has a friend/family member with a paypal account.. OR maybe the forum has other ways to donate? Through Google wallet or bank deposit???

Re: Forum Competitions!

Maybe as an optional choice. Some members are students and young people. I'm sure enough people will donate to the forum for it to make a difference. It's a good thought and I'm sure Avery will appreciate any contributions that result from the contest :)
