I disagree with how the forum Reputation system works.

Although i may be new to THIS forum i am not new to forums at all. See the reason no one will listen to me is because i'm new to this forum, and i'm not going to be respected in the same way and i understand that and i'm fine with that. At least think about some sort of fair system.

You are not new to this Forum... You have already been banned
recently... I know you from your Punctuation lazyness and age...

Im sry im not used to using punctuations i'm only 15 im not the greatest with grammer.

You almost got banned from another Forum for the same 1000 word
sentences.... IIRC...

Thanks for posting the exact same thing i said chris lol

You are absolutely right. You illustrate the problem with your position with these two posts. You do not even understand yet that back-to-back posting is frowned on in this forum. Yet you want to have just as much say here as you do somewhere where you have actually earned some rep.

You do not yet understand the forum nor what is respected here

Sorry. You are NOT going to be automatically respected here or anywhere. You get a certain level of human respect, but not credibility respect until you earn it.

Peace,
dave

On second thought, in that example that I posted with the classes and the numbers and all... until 100 posts I don't think there should be any rep power given for post count at all. So, 0-100 = 100, 100-250 = 1, 250-500 = 2, 500-1000 = 4, 1000-2500 = 8, 2500-5000 = 16, etc. And then any reputation you have will follow a similar system and will be added to the post-count system. Any feedback on this idea, Dave/Jerry/any-vets-reading-this?

You lost me a bit there. I don't quite understand what you are proposing.

There is already VERY little rep earned by posting a lot.

Rep is earned from others respecting, being grateful for, or just admiring what you contribute to the forum.

Are you saying we should remove the members' opinion of one's contribution and only go on posting numbers? Or do you just think that we should not put so much trust in the members' opinions.

Peace,

I think he means thats how much would be deducted or added if someone gave u rep. Like how much your deducted or given is determained by the post count.

Hello!!! Its the internet, duh. Its useless points in the real world. The only time they really mean something is if you are selling something, a scammer, or lowlife. Other than that, Dave is Dave no matter how many points he has. You take the good with the bad like everything else in life. This stupid thread is a waste of time. Just except what is given and move on.

Ok well i plan on selling things in the near future the only problem is when i first got on the forum i was bad about my sentence structure, and i got bad rep for it. So to me it does matter.

i have awful sentence structure to lol, im just lazy online sometimes

cmak u have some interesting points. the rep system is not perfect and dont think its possible for it to be. i agree with ppl that said this is just the internets.

to prove i dont care about -rep someone can neg rep me now lol=) but i guess i can see how its annoying to get a bad rap if u didnt do something dumb. not a perfect system. if u get a negative rep which violates the terms of use (e.g. racist) i can delete it, but don;t have time to manually delete most reps unless its something horrific lol

good discussion tho
enjoy forum all

No one asked you to be an English professor, just try. Thats all that anyone expects. Most of us have lousy grammar, but we try.

I'm not a vet but since this thread is about opinions, I'd like to voice mine.

I think a "Post-count system" for reputation is a bad idea. It's way too easy for someone to increase their posts. I recall a member, who I haven't seen on here in a while, was a pro a useless post. He averaged over 30 a day of just garbage. So with a post-count system he would have weighed a lot of rep-points simply for posting junk posts, not by helping someone, or offering good advice, thereby earning their "respect". IMHO :)

I have to disagree. You get 1 power point for every 250 posts. So if they were just posting for points, they would only have 4 points for 1000 posts. And we try to weed out the posting junkies, so its even harder for them to get a high rep count.

The people with higher reps deserve to have higher points because they dont usually abuse it like newer and younger members.

You're rep will go up if you help out rather than join in on bashing someone
