Wow, it seems like it was only a few months ago that we were surprised to see 2000 users online... Today, we've hit a new record, almost 16,000 users online!

I think this may have to do with Jayrob's 12x Blu-Ray phaser being posted on hack-a-day: Phaser-to-laser mod puts out 465mW - Hack a Day

Congratulations Jayrob! Once again your tutorials have captured the attention of thousands of people.
Congratulations Avery! The server seems to be holding up well under this load, and I suspect it will be a good month for ad revenue.

Tutorials, Help & Repairs (13727 Viewing)

Is this a glitch?

If that many visitors are the result of Jayrob's video, I imagine there could easily be that many perusing tutorials for a shopping list of items they can buy at Walmart to make their own phaser on a rainy afternoon.

The few with a brain may hopefully end up joining LPF!

Something isn't right cOld.

I have never seen these kinds of numbers in any of the forums, something is not right here. The views seem to keep piling on and on. :can:

:thanks:

Yeah... After my HacknMod article and Youtube video, a ton of people and sites picked up the article and posted their own blog about the video.

If you do a Google search of '12X blu-ray phaser', you will get about 5 pages of links to similar articles on tech sites.

All of them linking to LPF! :)

Check this Google search:

I got over 42,000 views on my Youtube video in the last couple of days!!! Lots of link backs to LPF...

12X Blu-Ray Star Trek Phaser video! - Click here!

My 12X phaser tutorial views on LPF jumped to over 19,000...

How about making this tutorial a stickie Avery?

Most users ever online was 19,354, Today at 01:00 AM.

The numbers just seem to get more out of whack every time I look.
Sorry JR, it's not because of you or any other member.

Believe it man! Avery knows...

Take a look at the number of link backs to my 12X tutorial thread at the bottom of the thread:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/tutorial-12x-star-trek-phaser-mod-46886.html

All of those link backs happened in the last two days. I have over 50 thousand views now for my Youtube video in the last couple of days. Lots of those people are clicking my LPF link to my tutorial posted in the Youtube comments next to the video...

Look at the number of views for my Youtube video now (over 50,000), and then look at the number of views in the morning! You will see thousands of more views. Meaning many more links to my tutorial here at LPF! :)

Check the numbers, you'll see...
12X Blu-Ray Star Trek Phaser video! - Click here!

P.S. You will also see the number of views to my 12X tutorial here on LPF climb accordingly. Right now, it is over 19,000. Tomorrow it will be more I'm sure.

It went to 19,000 in a couple of days! As soon as all those tech sites picked up the video on Youtube and did their articles on it...

Edit: Correction... It just hit 20,000 views:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/

Not sure how long this will keep up, but this huge jump came all at once when all of those tech sites posted their articles in the same day or two. All of their articles link to my LPF tutorial, because they take thier information from my Youtube video, which say 'see my tutorial', with a link to LPF in the comments...

With the system in place "users online" does NOT actually mean "at one time." IIRC it is a total of the last 14 hours from the reading. That would actually mean that there were 19,354 users online in the last 14 hours.

"Users online" = unique hits in the last 14 hours.

That is still VERY impressive, but it does NOT mean that we have to have enough bandwidth to carry 19K users at once

Peace,
dave

Ok Raybo...

It has been only 7 hours or so since my last post in this thread, and I have received over 15,000 more views on my Youtube video in those 7 hours.

And on my LPF 12X phaser tutorial, over 2,100 more views in only 7 hours!

This is a low number compared to the activity that happened in the previous 24 hours. But it is still a huge increase in traffic to LPF...

Hope it keeps up! :)

P.S. That was over night. (U.S.) I'll check it in another 7 hours for an update in the numbers just one last time for you...
