I propose we start a Drivers Section.

Since drivers is one of the most important elements for us DIYers next to Diodes.

Would it be a good idea to have a centralized section for this topic.

Let the polling begin.:pop:

Re: Drivers Section

Considering the fact that we now have a Flashlight section...I think a section for drivers shouldn't be too far out of question.

Re: Drivers Section

This has already been discussed... twice. The amount of drivers we have are too scarce to make a complete section dedicated to them.

But that's just my opinion. If it boosts posts regarding drivers, then YES!

Re: Drivers Section

I think will help some members decide or help them choose the right driver for their build. Searching doesn't always find you the info that you are looking for. The more organized the better!

Re: Drivers Section

With an LD Drivers/Power Supplies Section... the noobs wouldn't need to
look too long or ask repetitive questions on where to find them...
I like the idea...

Re: Drivers Section

IMO all we need is a sticky with a list of drivers with a brief description about each one.

Re: Drivers Section

Yes there are drivers being confused as if for CW vs. Analog Mod. Make it easier seems like a great idea. This can also sell a few more drivers (Pro Shop) as those will feel a little more at ease for this part of the process. I let Daguin choose for me. He's "the man with the plan". It's the DIY peoples that will thank us for this.

Re: Drivers Section

Sounds like a good idea to have ALL the driver info in one section. I've been all over this LPF and found a ton of info on driver but they are scattered all over the place.

And as lasersbee said, it would hopefully cut down on some of the noob questions who say they search and can't find the info, because it is definitely out there...

Re: Drivers Section

May I suggest including, 'Dummy Test Loads', (why they are used and how they are constructed), in there as well?

Re: Drivers Section

Pretty timely too. These 445nm diodes are stretching the limits of the drivers, the test loads, and the batteries

Peace,
dave

As for the placement of this new section may I recommend between Gas Lasers and Optics.

The 445nm does make thing more complicated we are now talking about

2amps current
parallel drivers
batteris that can handle high current draw.
