All this bickering is a detraction from the science / hobby. I don't care when something is delayed by updates. I've been an engineer in manufacturing and it just happens.
My monitor is almost rusted from tears of the appliance opperators. I have 445 because I built them. Get real guys and make this a true hobby -- you will profit in the long term.

I'm just saying the next laser genius could come from the arctic mess for all we know. Turning people away is a bad idea. It's kind of like when you send 10,000 people to jail but one of them did not commit a crime. That's to many in my opinion.

This is like saying closing a diseased brothel will somehow lessen the number of "geniuses" a society will attract.

We're not going to lose anyone of any value by deleting these troll honeypot threads and banning idiots who have proven that they can't engage in responsible discussion. The people who wish to contribute something will visit other topics and contribute there, as they already have.

I gave multiple warnings in the threads, as well as telling people to stay on topic and try minimize double, triple, quadruple and sometimes even more posts. Despite this, people still felt the need to argue with each other. Clearly telling them to stop it isn't going to work. I have AT LEAST 100 emails of reported posts from the Arctic threads, it was just too much.

Now that people are actually getting the arctics, I am hoping they'll end up in the multimedia board, and no more of this "Oh here is my wicked chat" and "What was your tracking number" crap that came up every 2nd post.

I don't know how it's censorship. Deleting someones post because they are throwing cuss words left right and centre is censorship? Maybe you need to review the age group on this forum, I think you'll find at least 50% are under 20.

Yes, I know, kids are exposed to this swearing every day, and it may not seem like a big deal, but we are simply covering LPF's from any liability it could come across (Even though it is a LLC forum).

I second the vote for an "Everything Arctic" forum, sub-forum whatever . . .

I think you guys are working harder than you have to and I don't see it getting any easier in the coming months with all the new press releases and people getting their Arctics . . .

WL should have a sub-board for their Arctic.

LPF should not.

I knew that after the Arctic arrived we'd be inundated with yet another flood of useless technical support posts on this laser appliance. Before I go on a rampage alerting the inquisitors to remove this foul corruption from the board, what is LPF's official policy on this WL Arctic blight? We may not have the level of douchebaggery that the original threads contained, but the 445nm forum should not be degraded into a WL support forum.

Perhaps responding with a standard "Support and Technical information is available
at WL
" to all the Arctic technical and shipping questions and/or have THAT post removed..

Actually... I've stopped posting any info in the Artic threads since the Mods, kept deleting
them and my post count did the Yo-Yo thing too often...

I just ignore them and go to the next Thread.....

And perhaps add a link to get them on their way even faster! :D

Actually that's a good idea, a boilerplate last reply to a thread with a link, and then the thread is locked. Right now with the direct locking there is no explanation and people aren't being told where they ought to go ask their questions.

I understand locking the threads, but what's with the seemingly random deletions? A lot of those threads had good info and now the only way to find it is through Google cache. Also it makes peoples post/rep count do the yo-yo.

Warnings were given, so I don't think it's a big deal.
The "useful info" was not much. I think the garbage outweighed the constructive posts. Also, it clogs up the search function. Searching "Arctic" here may very well get you close to a gazillion links.

I think arctic topics should be limited to WL's forum.
I realized they are a sponsor or LPF and yes the arctic IS a laser pointer

but the majority of these posts are from people who do not belong to the LPF community, and who will be gone as soon as this craze is over. So why bother even accommodating them?

...i realize the above suggestion is stupid, so ignore it. I just wish there was an easy solution to these arctic "people". I guess we'll have to just wait it out.

Not anymore as I can see... Maybe they have an ad on the Forum
that I haven't seen... but the one at the top of every Forum page
is gone...
