Does this laser seem 5mw to you? It says burning 5mw laser 532nm. Here's the link.http://m.lightinthebox.com/en/ls319-g301-focus-burn-visible-beam-pen-laser-green-laser-pointer-5mw-532nm-1x18650-black_p2838726.html?currency=AUD&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping

Please edit your post so the link works. No 5mW laser can burn anything. Many cheap chinese made 532nm lasers are way overspec, some of that is IR.

Hi,
5 mW no burn from what i heard from DTR some time ago if i'm not mistaken diodes start to lase around 15MW's. Double check that but 15mW is the number from what heard..

No 15mW won't burn if that's what you're trying to say. Some here have claimed that 35mW will burn but I am skeptical of that but am unable to test it right now, but that would only maybe be able to burn some black plastic or pop a black balloon. I can verify that 82mW has a hard time burning stuff.

Remember those ebay laser giveaways alaskan donated? The one I got averages around 55mw and with steady aim it will burn up close very lightly.

Yeah they say 5mw but that's never the truth. It's the only way they can sell them on ebay.

It's not from ebay, it's from LightInTheBox.com

Yes but it is still a 301 laser, these 301/303 are cheap Chinese made lasers mass produced in huge numbers with no quality control. You can't be sure what you're going to get, they are usually overspec. If you're in Australia it's probably not legal so be careful with it. Be sure to never put the battery in backwards and don't ever drop it, all 532nm are DPSS, they can break easy.

Like everyone said, those cheap 5mW 532nm lasers are usually over spec. Combined with the ability to focus the beam, that laser will more than likely be able to smoke electrical tape and maybe even light a match.

With that being said, you need to be careful with it. You also should invest in a pair of safety goggles especially if you're going to be trying to burn with it.
