Abuse and excessive posting is already observed.  Look at some of them.
Massive control is needed.  Limit the post to 100 characters but negative is OK with me.
I, like anyone else can call DrLava a spammer with less than 100 characters  ;D  :D  ;D  :eek:

Yes, i agree Mike. Please stop putting long images in the rep, chances are you will get - rep from doing that.

Maybe there should be a formula based automatically on the number of posts. Who's to judge if someone is reputable or not? I mean, if someone has 2k posts and not banned, then obviously their rep is good. Respect is earned, not given.

Post count is easy to raise all you have to do is reply to every post saying something like hey nice vid or good job.
dosnt meen I would trust a person based on post count. This rep system is a waste as one person who dosnt like or agree with you can just keep posting neg rep over and over again.

Just look at people like Bluefusion and spyrorocks that have both given each other +3 by multi repping that just shows the abuse of the system. Also posting massive spam pics in the rep windows. The rep system has just become a toy for the children to play with It has no merit at all.

The best thing IMO is to gett to know people. Then deside who to trust. Not by the rep or post count.

i think that the rep is just for fun between the ones that are frequent to the forums (well, at least that is what it is used for)

we already know who has knowledge and is respectful (this forum is unique)


lets just keep it this way =)

not to disagree with you, Lorgar, but c'mon, forums are for fun, you LIKE lasers and come here to learn more about them or help somebody else with theirs, but you do have fun. that's why i am here, just to have some fun! and it doesnt mean that i am a 10 year old child that laughs whenever you say BUTT

I agree completly the forums are here for fun and learning but something like a reputation system shouldnt be used as a toy by bored children

I agree with you. I agree with everyone actually. Yes, it is obvious who is respectable/reputable/helpful/additive to entertainment...

At least it requires little effort and a comment explaining why one's rep moves up or down a point.

i think its important not to over-analyze the reputation system, we all know it is not a perfect system by any means, but it can be useful. don't think to much of it

i changed the settings so you cannot gave the same person + or - rep within a 1 week period

im thinking maybe we should make a poll in the polls section to agree on the value for this setting

what to you guys think?
