Did it have a quote that contained WL?
Nope :p and I'm fairly sure it has nothing to do with that as there is still a thread in the general section which is basically just a whole thread of WL bashing :p and also the thread c0ld posted.

I've noticed that posts are missing from other threads too... :-/ 2 of mine disappeared... :(

P.S. I use Windows XP on most of my computers. I also have Ubuntu installed on a separate partition on most of them. I like it because it's different, but I don't use it much. I'll have to say though, (even if you hate me for it) that I still use Windows 98. I liked it too much to fully transition to XP.

I don't hate you for it. Windows98 was good, but XP did fix most of the problems that they had with it. ;) The bad part about using windows98 is that you don't get any patches any more.

Vista 64 all the way ;D

Eh... I never upgraded anyway. And as far as I recall, XP is the only system I've ever gotten spyware/adware on.

Depending on the system, I'm running XP-64, Vista-64, Vista-32, RH Linux, and Ubuntu. I was actually very happy when XP-64 came out because I thought one natural path to faster processing was to up the bus bandwidth which intel did do but, of course, Microshaft 1)Didn't release the OS in a very stable form, 2) Didn't get the APIs out to the world in with any haste and thus a huge delay on true 64-bit programs. It's a pain to manually get into the registry to force a call to the old 32-bit drivers to get a program to run...if it runs at all. You would think there would be some haste as all intel processors operate at 64-bit now but as usual the customer is always wrong when it comes to microsoft. So now they have announced end of life on XP and Vista in favor of Windows 7. I guess they worked out all the issues and are going to a single OS.

What really kills me is my programming suite, Microsoft Visual Studio Professional, allows compiling for 64-bit systems. I bought that software like 5 years ago.

My linux systems are primarily used for servers and server support. I don't do much Unix anymore but I sure miss the power of unix systems running things like HP Openview and other high end software. As much as Microsoft wants you to believe otherwise, the software that runs real systems is always Unix based.

I use Microsoft because I really have no other choice....and they know it.

It's true. One of these days, hopefully Microsoft will have real competition. Mac and Linux just can't stand up side by side and even try to compare themselves to the Microsoft monopoly.

So Vista 7 = Windows 7? What about 32-bit and 64-bit?

I use Windows 7 64-bit as my main OS. Dual boot XP on my other HDD which I use mainly for recording music. Some drivers/programs don't work in 7 otherwise XP would be obsolete.

isnt there supposed to be an xp "emulator" for 7 that lets you use those drivers?
