Perhaps we could ban ads in the section and use it just as himnl9 said for plans and such.

Uhm, maybe that can be helpful for DYIers ..... i mean, not a forum for sell LPMs and not other, a forum for projects, schematics, ideas, builds ..... where all can be shared freely .....

I have nothing against selling LPMs on regular basis, i want to be clear about that ..... but, after all, there is already the pro shop section, for this ..... That what lack, imho, is a place where collect all the posts about these tools (i know that there is already the experiments forum, but there is all mixed up ..... maybe collecting all about this argument in a single place, can help keeping it a bit more ordered, and make also the things more easy to the ones that want to search informations ;)

Maybe the solution could be that someone make a Thread to be
stickied that points to all the LPM projects and LPM reviews and
LPM info...

I think some of you misunderstand.... I would have seen that
LPM section as an informative place for an average member to
get info on LPMs either Commercial units or DIY LPMs and not
sales pitches...

@ T_J and icecruncher....
Sorry but I believe sales and sales pitches are and should be in
the B/S/T and Pro Shop sections....

Either way.... I'll go with the flow.......................

Jerry, everywhere you go is a sales pitch. Your sig is full off them. But thats not what I was talking about. I just don't want to see you get bounced again.

I voted yes. It would be nice to have an organized section to discuss both commercial, and DIY LPMs. Whether or not sale threads should be allowed in that sub-forum is a different issue.

Neither do I..... ;)

LPMs is a part of what I do to put food on the table....
I don't do this in my spare time.... it's a full time job...

BTW....I see the competition with the same Sig "sales pitches"....

Nothing against you personally. In the future I will probably buy a Laserbee just to round things out and to verify outputs from other meters.

I'm very much about having tools to do a job. I've seen IR thermometers used and suggestions on them over the years along with other DIY ideas. IMHO they are OK for an "estimated" output to put you in the ball park. However, if you are spending decent money on goggles and lasers and DMM and other pieces why would you want a DIY meter than isn't calibrated and only gets you a rough idea of output? So you can say "hey my laser is between 120 and 170 mw."

So if it is for DIY LPM's I still say 'Nay'.

I've got about $700.00 just in my meters.

This is the reason that I don't tend to mind the fact that you seem to go after sales where you can. Don't take that statement negativity, it's actually a good thing. Without those "sales pitches", I might not know as much about the products you sale.

I do think that until we have more DIY LPM projects being made or even more people making commercial quality hobby meters, that an entire section just for LPMs might really cause more issues then it solves.

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Don't feel bad I've invested over $5000.00 in Meters
to design/test/calibrate the LaserBee products...:cryyy:

I still think a Sticky pointing to all the LPM related
threads would suffice...
I already have a thread pointing to the older DIY
LPM projects... When I need to look something up
I know where it is...

I believe a separate sub-forum would encourage "more DIY LPM projects".

I hope your right. :) I actually abstained from voting so far. After I posted, that I thought about it some more and truth be told, even if it doesn't catch on / causing problems / whatever, if it's in a separate section I don't have to even read it. :)

Of course if it turns out to be a good thing, I'll be there everyday. Dang place is addictive.
