OMG what a topic. I could type all day. I grew up in the 60's with a Dad who was a DJ (a real DJ, not what we nowadays call hiphop morons abusing turntables). He was also a concert promoter. Brought The Dave Clark 5 and others to Memphis.

So, to this list, I'll just say, most of the already mentioned, and add
The Moody Blues

I enjoy listening to strange instruments and odd music styles lately...

Here's a hurdy gurdy:

Here's some Siberian throat singing... That girl really has a helluva voice..

Some more throat singing.. It's like eskimo beatboxing...

I've also been looking up jazzy french '60s music lately:

Pretty much I'm all over the map, basically I like anything that's not country or rap... I don't mind country so much as long as it's not all twangy honky tonk singing about how your truck broke down and your dog died and your woman left you for another man.
Random list of bands I like:
Dresden Dolls, Radiohead, Moldy Peaches, Pixies, Frank Sinatra, White Zombie, Slayer, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Operation Ivy, Fugazi, The Unicorns, Mars Volta, The Killers, Electric Six, AC/DC, Bjork, Beck, NOFX, Pennywise, Sepultura, old Nine Inch Nails (downward spiral and earlier), old Metallica (pre black album), Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, Leonard Cohen, Bad Religion, Frank Black, You Say Party We Say Die, Franz Ferdinand, They Might Be Giants, Moxy Fruvous, Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, Louis Armstrong, Girl Talk, Pizzicato Five, The Doors, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Faint, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Boards of Canada, Squarepusher, Modest Mouse, Le Tigre, Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Lagwagon, Screeching Weasel, SNFU, Devo, Men Without Hats, The Kinks, The Clash, The Smiths, Bauhaus, Ween, Phish, Muse, The Postal Service, Sublime, Buckethead, Cradle of Filth, Dimmuborgir, Opeth, Elliot Smith, Dead Kennedies, Dead Milkmen, Five Iron Frenzy, System of a Down, The Beatles, Aphex Twin, and so on in that order.

I notice that The Beatles are not mentioned. They are the leaders.

Also Moody Blues, Pink Floyd and ABBA. Never forget Hendrix and the DOORS.

HMike

I should have mentioned Queen.. Good music but they have some bad rep because of, I think, one member.
