I wonder when we'll be able to completely grow and replace all organs with stem cells. When that time comes, everyone here will be considered very young.

It is more likely that people will become cyborgs and maybe even have artificial full body replacements that your brain is transplanted into, you will have to plug in and recharge frequently. If that sounds unlikely to you, there is a Russian research project underway to develop this technology. There have been articles about this for almost 3 years now, it's not BS. There is also a plan to do the first human head transplant in the near future, yes that may really be possible now, you may have seen it on the news in recent weeks. They could also remove your head and attach it to a console that will keep you alive, and that technology has already existed for a long time now. Of course your head or brain eventually die too, but you could live a very long time.

I'd have no problems with uploading my mind to something artificial if they can completely transplant it not just copy it. I mean, if they just copy your memories to a robot they've just basically cloned you but have not made you immortal. The old you will still die.

What I was thinking of is the time when organ transplants becomes affordable and safe like us buying electronics. "My heart is failing? It's okay I'll just go buy a new one."

Still very interesting thoughts though. I've heard a researcher say, "The first person that will live to be a thousand years old has already been born".

The thing is though, would you honestly want to live a thousand years? I'm pretty sure you grow tired of life itself after less than 200 years.

I've also heard about the worlds first head transplant. Last I heard they had the team of don't quote me on this but I think 30+ doctors, from all around the world. Also the test subjects. Or should I say guinea pigs.

You never know until you've tried. Plus, imagine what laser technology and technology in general would be like in 200 years. Fully tunable across the visible spectrum 1kW+ handheld anyone? Maybe not 1kW+, that sounds a bit dangerous.

That'd indeed be pretty neat. Although I imagine it being a pain getting your hands on such stuff if people continue being the idiots they are these days with lasers. There are many pro's to living for let's say a thousand years, but there are cons too.

The cells within our bodies are constantly dying and new ones take their place, including within our brains. It really depends on what you mean by transplant, but one option would be a gradual replacement of the cells within our brains, or in even larger chunks, maintaining the continuity of one being vs a clone.

The planet would not be able to handle people living 1,000 years unless we curb population growth. Only 1 person born for every death. That would be a problem for those in 3rd world countries and those that like to f*ck like rabbits though.

Yeah thats where we get into blurred lines because another poll i ran said people were okay with 14-17 year olds having them as long as they knew the appropriate safety measures needed. Also how would we even test for "maturity" online...

I need a birthday. I thought turning 50 (March) it would be a bigger deal but all I hear is "if you are over 50 ....." when they actually mean 50 and over. It's weird because I can't say I'm over 50 but I'm usually in that group. They just don't bother to say 50 and over.
