So I am trying to decide between phones, as I have an upgrade available and have owned my iPhone 4 for 2 years and 2 months and have not broken the screen at all. Oh, and I don't use a phone case so :na:

But here is what I am coming up with:

Galaxy S4:
Pros: Higher Performance, Better Camera, Bigger Screen, Better Resolution, Open Market Apps, Highly Customizeable, SIM Card, MicroSD Slot Compatible with 64GB MicroSD Cards, Better Screen.
Cons: Not as pretty, less battery life, harder to use

iPhone 5:
Pros: Battery Life, Prettier, Some say better photos even with worse camera, easier OS
Cons: Not customizeable, Apple's Restrictive Nature(can't delete fucking Newsstand), Not as good performance-wise, no MicroSD slot

Anyway, would appreciate any help I can get here.

Thanks,
Isaac

I have a Note 2. Custom ROM, custom kernel. Overclocked the CPU and GPU. Apple sucks. Everyone needs to get off that boat and let the company drown. No offense apple people but they have stalled.

Just my two cents.

easy choice, hands down! and less battery life!??????? I call HUGE BS!!!! Same thing was said about the iPhone 4S VS S3 but my S3 out lives all my friends 4S. best ive done on my S3 was 2 days 17 hours on one charge and HEAVILY using my phone for texting, games and internet. andriod out lives any iphone on battery life.

not as pretty is a personal opinion and cant argue the harder to use part. iphone's are idiot proof but they are less sophisticated in order to do this. andriod takes common sense and brains to use :p

EDIT: Speedy, it will drown on its own. steve jobs was the only innovator there and the reason why they were sooooo successful. now that he is gone (unfortunately) the company is running out of his ideas and inventions, thus they will sink like the rock that they are

Yeah. I asked a salesman about the hard to use part and basically he said:

"The Galaxy S4 is harder to use. The iPhone is easier to use though because it has less options"

I go 'great, so I can be a lemming with an iphone or use my brain with a galaxy s4'

S4 definitely.

Pretty I dont care about. The phone is better and the screen looks better so who cares if people are sexually attracted to iphones for some reason.

Harder to use is a load of crap! As long as you arent a 14 year old iphone addicted girl you will have absolutely ni problem using it. I would even go so far as to say iphones are harder to use simply because of all the obscure menus, tricks, roundabout maneuvers, jailbreaking, etc you have to do to complete the same tasks you can do so simply on android.

As for battery life, there are a lot of things you can do on a android phone to increase battery life. Iphone 5 has better battery life because it is factory underclocked... you can do that too but android gives you the choice.

S4 is absolutely better. And anybody saying they get better pics with a worse camera, fanboy alert!

Same thing but on a Galaxy S3

I'm actually thinking about upgrading to the s4 since I have an upgrade available but I don't know whether to pull the trigger for $200

Anyway my vote is for the s4, but I am extremely biased and love android. If you love to customize things, android is for you. If you want to keep if simple go for the iphone (although I hate iTunes). There will most likely be a new iphone soon though fyi.

Edit: Although I have no experience with it, the HTC ONE should be a good option too.

Edit again:
You can make android look like anything you want too
My current android setup, I have the wallpaper on rotate with about 20 other images:

And, with the S3/S4, if you aren't happy with the battery life you can always buy an extended battery. I have one on mine.

I'll be using another person in my family as an upgrade, so they would be taking my s3. If that wasn't the case I'd definitely sell and upgrade.

I am thinking I might trade in my current iPhone 4 as it is in good condition despite being 2+ years old. But on the other hand I worry that if I dont like the S4 I might just want to take the sim card and have it returned to the old iphone.

My S4 should be here this week. I love my S3 which has a custom detoxed 4.2.1 rom but I had to get the new shiny phone. I am partial to the android and Galaxy phones in particular. I have a S 4G, S II, S III and will have a S4. The best part is all of them are on 4.2.1 running great. That is upgradeability for you.

4.2.1 is a version of Jelly Bean which is one of the latest versions of Android. Android is currently on version 4.2.2 with 4.3 on the horizon. They are all called Jelly Bean since they are minor updates from each other. The android naming scheme comes from desserts in alphabetical order. Cupcake, Donute, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean. Apple goes by iOS5, iOS6, iOS7 and so on. With android it is possible for manufacturers to overlay their customizations to android. This is very apparent on the Samsung galaxy devices like the S4. It's their own little tweaks to the system to make the software seem more appealing to the consumer. With android it is possible with the help of the Dev community to apply custom software and even Google's own stock software, which is what I like to do with my phones. It may seem complicated, but it is relatively easy if you are at all tech inclined. These custom softwares can add or take away from the android experience. It's all your personal preference with android.

I have an android phone and an iPad and in my opinion iOS is better for people that aren't very computer literate, even an idiot can use it, but android is a complete operating system, anyone more knowledgeable and experienced with computers will be happier with an android. Also having the micro SD card is a huge plus.

if battery life is a concern to you these cases are amazing for solving that issue,
say you are camping and using your phone alot, i have used my iphone for days without charging it with this case

you dont have to get one of these exact 2 listed but just showing you the tech

i use mine all the time when i am going out and i forgot to charge my phone, just slap on the case.

4200mAh Backup Battery Power Charger Flip Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 | eBay

4200mAh External Backup Battery Charger Power Case Cover for IPHONE5 5 5g | eBay

also i have the 5 and i love it, but i never had the s4 so i cant say which is better

Galaxy S4. Personally I'm torn on whether to get the regular version, or wait for the S4 Active.

The S4 Active is out but apparently compromises performance and some features for its ruggedness. Also the salesman warned that the buttons might wear over time.
