I carry my 150mW laser at all times when I'm walking at night, I keep it in hand just in case... how many of you do the same?

Re: Do you carry your laser as self defense at nig

I don't since it would only be useful in very rare cases.I carry it at night because I like shining it at distant stuff. :D

Re: Do you carry your laser as self defense at nig

When I walk around in the nights, which i like never do, I do never leave the house without at least one laserpointer. But I nearly always take my 5mw aka 15-20 mW aconsen pointer with me. Mostly for shining at stuff, but I hope it it has to, that it will be handy ;)

i carry at least one on me at all times ;D I live in a bad neighborhood so I can use it to deter people if they arn't afraid of a man carrying a katana or a short sword on him (no guns for me for I am a law abiding citizen...most of the time, only criminals get the guns :-/)

Re: Do you carry your laser as self defense at nig

I have a 4-inch blade folding knife in my pocket and a Cree R2 flashlight. I might sometimes take my greenie for shining etc but it ain't gonna be the one coming out of my pocket if I'm confronted. Over here often people get mugged by big, unarmed guys.

I don't keep a laser on me for self defense, I sometimes keep one on me for pointing around and stuff though.

Instead of just a laser I carry one of these when I walk around at night [smiley=evil.gif] i think it's a but more intimidating than a laser. if I was a mugger I wouldn't want to try to mug a guy crazy enough to walk around with swords ;D

haha swords ftw, i had a sword like that which I got at a garage sale, but I guess it was just a practice sword so it wasn't very sharp, I traded it for a very deadly 9 inch dagger with brass knuckles for the handles. ;D

I dont carry my laser for self defense, I carry it for entertainment. But if it's night I keep it handy and ready as self defense.

well those definitely aren't garage sale swords I can tell you that right now both are very deadly, sharp, strong, awesome ;D. you know your swords are good when your cutting cheap knives in half for fun with them :P bamboo is also fun. I'm probably going to use them during Halloween if I can't get my friend to lend me his masamune. I'm gonna dress up as Sephiroth, sit in a chair with a bowl full of candy and scary kids that take too much by popping balloons with one of my lasers or the sword ;D ;D ;D this year is going to be fun if I get any trick or treaters in this neighborhood it's my first Halloween in Detroit

I don't have anything above 5mW YET (when that host shows up, BLU-RAY!), but when I do, I will probably carry it around at night for self-defense.

Exactly how debilitating is it, anyway, to take a direct hit in the eyes? I've hit myself with my 5mW greenie, how would a 100mW blu-ray compare? Remember, a second's pause is all you need to give someone a massive blow to the nose, knee in the balls, etc.

100mW of blu-ray would easily give retinal burns in a flash.

Re: Do you carry your laser as self defense at nig

I dont carry a laser pointer around, cause if its over 1mw, its a weapon :-/
+ I dont have a pointer ...

Re: Do you carry your laser as self defense at nig

I carry a few 1mW keychain pointers on my keys but other than that I rarely take my lasers out of my house. Only when I get a new laser I take it out with me, and even then I only take it out once.

Re: Do you carry your laser as self defense at nig

I'm sorry but I would never carry a laser pointer for self-defense. My HK USP .45 works much better. You have to be very careful when escalating a confrontation with a weapon because if you are not prepared to use the weapon or understand how to use the weapon effectively, it will likely be used on you. In the case of a laser pointer you may find it shoved up your a$$ sideways. My standard operating procedure is simple. If I have to drawn down with my .45 it's because I will be pulling the trigger. If an adversary sees my .45 they will will also see the muzzle flash.

This was the hardest lesson to get wired into my wife's responses.  Having been raised on Hollywood (in the city), she was enculturated with "fair play", "giving people a chance", and Hollywood's need to explain what was happening on the screen to the audience.  I had to start her with the simple mantra:  Draw -- Acquire -- Fire.  Now that we have her target acquisition ingrained, we have simplified it to, "Pop the cap."

Peace,
dave

Exactly, don't pull something, if you don't plan on using...That being said a laser pointer shot while painful can get you into a world of hurt.

Nice choice Frothy :) which version? I use a Walter P99 black but for piercing cardboard...

Thanks
