CERTIFIED goggle styles OEM (VOTE)

This poll will mainly be focused around OEM because of their popularity, and the wide variety of styles they offer should cover what anyone else will be selling. This topic will cover the top five. (as I see it) Please elaborate on how you voted, and post any opinions you have have, including different color dyes (ARG / YWL) OEM

I have some cheap non-cert (tested) Uvex, but since the 445s are so powerful, and I plan on making a 9mm version of my own; I might as well get some certified goggles with a high optical density (stop the eye strain).

To get to the point, I was contemplating the style 35 for a while and studied my sunglasses and came to my own conclusion (with help from BionicBadger) that style is not worth the risk considering I am mainly buying for protection. Therefore I will go with style 60 since it offers complete protection. At the cost of looking like a mad scientist XD

•I have contacted OEM about making an ARG filter that also protects from 800-2000nm, but I imagine that it will reduce VLT significantly if they do (will update when ready). They don't do ARG and IR (although I thought I saw a post somewhere with OEM with visible+IR )
•This site will even let you fill out an order with your vision prescription and they will make corrective optics out of the dyes. This means you don't have to wear glasses and it protects from lasers! (if money is no object to you!) Maybe when I win the lottery... :san: Prescription Laser Glasses

Personally a fan of the ARG Style 900. They fit over my rather large head and glasses without any problems.

OEM also has excellent post sale support. Some of the best I have ever had the pleasure of encountering.

I have one style #36 and one style #38
One is the newer OD7 180nm-532nm (ARG)
The older pair is OD5 below 395nm and OD3 395nm-540nm (probably the earlier ARG lens)

That older one looks like an argon alignment goggle, Dave.

Perhaps I should have just added all the styles and have a free-for-all, a mod can add this if they want, I don't car, if it helps others...

I found another company with REASONABLE prices, free shipping, and nice videos explaing things.

These other brand or the oem arg/kpt stly 60? (I still want style 35 for some reason) anyone wanna help me make up my mind? :cryyy:

Covers the whole eye area, no way they will left a beam in

I voted for the 900. I too have a head size and prescription glasses issue.
And for the price I just have to get them.

I, too, favor the style 900 and other "over the glasses" type goggles.

Odd how OEM didn't seem like they wanted to make a custom filter for multiple wavelengths, but since I found the thread: http://laserpointerforums.com/f53/oem-laser-systems-protective-eyewear-38537.html I decided to see if FrothyChimp could help me out. I will update if I get a reply. Otherwise I guess its all ARG for me if I can't find a certified ARG + IR in the next few weeks.

I used to have 900, mainly because I wore prescription glasses. I have since switched to contact lenses (I was breaking/losing way too many expensive pairs of glasses) so I would probably get 35 now.

Frothy chimp appears to offline for a month, so I was in touch with yet another employee of OEM about protecting from 445, 532, 808, 1064. It seemed like it was going somewhere but they just keep referring me to links, and telling me that they don't have goggles to protect from those wavelengths on their "clicky buttons GUI" on their site. (It feels like a clueless person at the e-mail desk doesn't know how to help is what it feel like...)

I guess I'm sol (though I have proof they CAN make them *cough!* ML7)
I guess for certified ARG + IR I wil have to buy the IR goggles and duct tape them to the ARG.......

What you're clearly failing to understand is, it's a MAJOR undertaking for them to produce an entirely new line of goggles.

The goggles have to be produced, tested, and certified.

The process for goggles they already have on hand, is worked out, the certifications, and testing have been completed.

For any new goggles, if they sell them without going through the technicalities, they open themselves up to legal action.

I'm willing to bet you'd hear back faster if you order a few hundred or thousand pairs, and can put down a sizable deposit though.

Ill admit I don't know how they do it. I just thought it was simple as mixing certified dyes and charging extra. I had no idea they had to do all that work.

just bought dome ARG (kpt) style 35's from OEM since I just decided to filter my green rather than special goggles with poor VLT. Can't wait

All is forgiven when a picture of a sad dog is involved.

Before you spend the money on those goggles (while the coverage is perfect) consider that they only pass through 10.6% of light.

Not exactly complete darkness, and after a few minutes your vision would adapt, but still, overall you would end up just not being able to see as well.

Instead, it's much easier to just use an IR filter.
