Should rangedunites be banned?

You let diachi go after spreading the password because "he's an old member and we should also keep in mind all the other good posts in his post count" but you want to ban rangedunits because he post senseless stuff? Come on...

At least I didn't lie and make up some lame excuse to get out of it, I came forward. :whistle:And I've been a good boy lately too!

I think he should be banned, that joke was over the line - the excuse finished it off. Granted I don't think it's reason enough for a permaban. A month or so should be enough IMO. But maybe that's even a little bit harsh. He can be a nice guy when he thinks about what he's saying.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a helpful post from this guy. There's no reason to keep him around that I can see.

He's a waist of virtual space, I'm quite sure he doesn't own a laser and makes no effort to ever contribute anything useful to this forum, all of his posts consists of pointless "yes" "no" and three word answers.

I would say he doesn't deserve a ban because to be fair he hasn't done much wrong, but he's done nothing right either, a two week ban would slap the sense out of most people being stupid and posting innapropriate things, but the issue is ranged posts nothing usefull, so if he stops posting his crap he'll be posting nothing at all... there for he may aswell be banned I guess

I agree about many of his comments and jokes being way out of place on LPF.
He really pissed me off. When he tried to convince us, that his little brother hacked his account, and made all those bad comments over the week. But by doing that, he is showing that he does care, at least little bit. About how he is viewed as a member of LPF.

Banning him right now, is a little heavy. We as a group at LPF. Can always have this thread again, later down the road. If he continues to piss people off.

For now we need to just let him know that he is on notice. If he would just take the time to think, before he posts. All should be good. Also in the future, if he does something not kosher with LPF. He needs to MAN UP for his mistakes, to just take the heat and move on. Instead of blaming someone else for his actions.

So for now, I just gave him negative rep. Instead of voting for a ban

Some people are just screwed down tighter than others  MFO, I have to agree 100% with both post #5 & #23. and I might add while I haven't read rangedunits coments that is all they are coments not actions and I thought we had freedom of speach in this country. I'll go for banning some one who hurts or endangers this forum or steals from people here, but not for ideas in some ones head. Slap the $hit out of him the first time if it will make you feel better MFO a ban I think not, why don't you gang up and neg rep the crap out of him isn't that what you do when you don't agree with someone else's ideas !

Flaminpro...

You know, I've been doing a lot of thinking about this comment and I'm going to have to call you out on it. You need to stop acting like all comments are ok here, when obviously they are not. There's a time and place for everything, and this obviously isn't the place to be poking fun at hundreds of thousands innocent people that have lost their lives, and the many more that are still in jeopardy of doing so because of the unsanitary conditions.

Let's say I was a racist (I'm not, but for the point of this arguments let's say I was). Would it be perfectly acceptable for me to talk shit about spics, niggers, honkeys, chinks, sand niggers, jews, etc.? They're only comments, right? You need to get out of that "It's only a comment" mentality and realize that one must be careful with what they say. People do have feelings here and you can't just say whatever you want.

In answer to your question, no I don't negative rep someone when I disagree with their ideas, if that were the case I would have negative repped you back in that other thread we had a debate in. I negative rep people when they act like assholes, and it's my right to do so. There's no rules here that say when I can and can't rep people, so I will do so when I feel is necessary. If someone pokes fun of people dying, I'm going to negative rep them. If someone wants to shoot an animal for sport and leave it's corpse laying there for no good reason, I'm going to negative rep them. If someone believes it's ok to shine a laser at a plane because it's their belief and comes here to brag about it, you can bet your ass I'm going to negative rep them. See where I'm going with this, or do I need to break it down into simpler terms for you?

hmm. Apparently what needs to be done is for it to be layed out by admin exactly what is ok to discuss and what isn't. Since I'm a resident of the good ol' USA we believe in freedom of speech. That means that generally speaking rangedunits and anyone has just as much right to use those derogatory terms at all the wrong times as you do to complain about it, but the fact is that neither one of you have the right to dictate what can and can't be talked about here. That would be up to the admin and possibly mods.

Well by stripping Range of 70+ points, I think the admin has spoken. Also in the rules there are certain things that are not allowed. I think mfo was mostly defending his right to neg rep.

Edit: (c) that is defamatory, sexually explicit, obscene, harassing, threatening, abusive, hateful, terroristic or otherwise objectionable.

I believe in freedom of speech too, just don't expect me to not call you out on it when you cross a boundary. We all do it from time to time, and even politicians have said things they shouldn't have. You can say what ever you want, you just can't get away with it.

It's like... (fictitious) If I went to an LPF member's beloved mother's funeral...
and at the funeral surrounding the grave.. I made a "comment" that it was time
she kicked the bucket.. she was a biatch..

It is free speech... it is my comment... but it is Disrespectful... hurtful...
showing no empathy.. and entirely inappropriate with no concern for others
at that funeral...

Stating that it was only a "comment" just doesn't wash....IMO

Is it possible to force the deletion of the offending posts in question here? I think that, with negative repping him by that much, it has bloodied his nose and by deleting his posts and making clear what is and is not acceptable, after that his behavior should depend on a ban and how severe it should be.

Very true Jerry. My point was simply that no one who has spoken so far has the right to lay out the rules here except perhaps 2007revolution. I don't agree with or condone those kinds of statements, but they are protected by freedom of speech in the US, and as mfo pointed out, so is one's right to call them out. This website is not required to allow freedom of speech, but it's not for common members to state what is acceptable and what isn't. That's all I'm saying, and it's really not entirely relevant to this situation per se anyway. Here, what c0ld says goes, and as TJ said it would seem that c0ld has spoken.

We are all supposed to be a Family here... and if a family member
steps out of line it is usually the other family members that try
to correct the issue...

The problem is he's in Canada and so am I... and as far as I'm concerned
he crossed the line in the "Haiti" Thread.. Joke or Not...
He knows what he needs to do to make all this go away... but some children
prefer to hide in the closet until the Boogey Man goes away...
