How do you pronounce HeNe?
If you picked option 1, then you suck and should be kicked off of LPF and banned from laser altogether.
Shame on you.

This does not make anybody "laser illiterate". It depends on where you were raised, the accent you have despite the dictionary's pronounciation.

I'd choose option #1 because that's the way I say it.

Oh, and it is "Altogether". <-- Not a grammar nazi.

Do you pronounce Helium Neon "Hehlium Nehon"?
It has nothing to do with your accent.

It's like saying "et" instead of "eat" or "bef" instead of "beef".

I call them "Nee Hee's" for Neon-helium. I find it kinda weird that people call them Helium-neon...

Option 2 normally, a lot of the times I just actually say helium-neon though.

I pronounce it as "heh-nee" :p Of course in reality if you asked me what HeNe stands for, I could easily tell you "Helium Neon, good sir." I don't care about the pronunciation of the actual words I simply go by what I see. Such as "lol" I never actually think "laughing out loud" when I read it, I simply see lol as in "lul" or "lawl." :D

EDIT: also, both of your options sound absurd. hennie ftw! :p

Same here, we both have spanish as native language so we pronounce HeNe more like in spanish, but not muting the h as we always do, because that way it would sound "eh-Neh" which is not cool.

BTW i also say Helio-Neon instead of helium-neon.
