Me or just in general? That's a good question. Is the school ABET accredited.. I shake my head when reading applications from people with an "engineering degree" from a non accredited school.
Me, University of Texas, Arlington. The BS is supplemented with P.E. after my name. You?

Did not mean to offend Jerry. I asked a similar question on a car forum, as there are quite a few people there that know how to solve unique problems. It turned out to be a lengthy and positive thread with post from people in school for it to those graduated in a variety of engineering disciplines. Those who have gone thru a BS curriculum share similar experiences.
It's intended as a thread to get to know others for something besides the hobby topic. It's does not belittle anybody, just a place for those of common background to say hi. If this will be a fail thread in these parts, please feel free to have a mod lock, delete or better yet, move it to the non laser "Other" sub forum as I should have posted it in to begin with.

Despite the multiple offenses to my grammatical sensibilities...
I have a BS in engineering, materials science and engineering to be precise. I am not a PE, as my field does not typically require such things, and because I'm going to grad school anyway. I'm currently working on my Ph.D in materials science.
My BS degree is from a program that was and is ABET accredited, and my graduate institution carries all required accreditations as well.

Thank you but it was intentional, a play on words (not to be taken at face value).
In my mind, the PE doesn’t mean anything as far as intelligence goes, it means someone studied enough to pass a test. My hand was forced to take the exam. The degree though, that’s some dedication. No one gets out without some bloodshot eyes and slight case of PTSD after all is said and done.

doing physics degree atm. at least if i dont fail the upcoming maths exam lol. the maths is so complicated its like a joke. i've heard in the US they keep it a bit easier in the first year. apparently over here they decide to get all the abstract maths stuff out of the way in the first year. the result is 24 topics, consisting of 40 pages of info each, to be revised within a few weeks :wtf:
we had a class test once. they average mark was so low they had to scale it up 40%, otherwise no1 would have passed :crackup:
technicaly im on a masters degree but it seems unlikely i will continue on it, maybe go for a bsc (think thats the notation). its just this convoluted mess of maths is destroying my soul lol, dunno if i'd want to make a job of it. in school, there was a symmetry of sorts in physics, it was complicated in its way, but at the core was such elegantly simple concepts. now all i see is a tangle of incomprehensible maths.

man, if you can just get thru it now, you wont have to use it everything in your job. Job just likes to know you are capable of doing it. What you actually do for a job may just be some obscure bit that you learned in school. I worked a job for seven years that was an expansion of just one class I had to take. 99.5% of what I did was learned on the job thru self study and was not abstract since I was in the middle of it. Oh, the maths get easier as you go. Stick it out if at all possible.
If I had to do it all over again, I’d go into computer science. Everyone I know doing that makes bank. Only issue with CS is you constantly have to learn the new stuff to stay on top of it. Engineering, water will always flow down hill.
When I started my career I did not know how to spell engamakneer, now I is one!
But seriously, I am an Electronics Engineer specialising in real-time systems. In my work I design analog and digital system, develop embedded systems etc. Anything from Military applications to digital video and audio systems.
I just landed a new job as Product Development Manager with a major Pro-Audio brand. Less hands on, more travel and management. We have factories in China, so I am excited about my access to Chinese laser parts!
