Worlds most expensive 1m power cord

I guess I been out of circulation for a while or is this the worlds most expensive 1 meter long power cord @ $2351.70 :crackup:

power cable provides the best sound. For that price the wires better be made of platinum plated gold.

No kidding, now I am curious why dose the power cable provide the best sound, am I missing something, are we talking about wireless speakers where the sound signal is passed along the power line or something :thinking:

I would think nothing less than sterling silver so I went to the manufacturers web site and they said it was OFC copper, so what is the shield braid made out of silver or silver plated gold ?

It did look like the connector pins were gold plated, there must be at least $0.30 worth of gold on them :crackup:

Can any one enlighten us why this power cable would cost so much ???

I can remember many years ago hi-fi was all I cared about. I use to search around out of curiosity what was the most expensive stuff. Cables seem to be the most expensive compared to other components or equipment in the hi-fi world. If memory serves me correct it was the process of how they make the cables that increased cost so much one manufacture claimed it took hours just to produce a foot of cable. Kimber Kable comes to mind of one of the ridiculously high priced stuff also M.I.T. stuff is very costly. Speakers check out Wilson audio for some 6 figure stuff.

I paid around $100 per speaker wire for the Audio Quest stuff I have (bi-wired so 2 per speaker) and it was used.

See power can affect sound quality ("dirty" power), but a cable isn't going to clean up dirty power, it takes a dedicated box-thing to do that. Also, any digital video equipment (HDMI) doesn't see any difference if video/audio quality based on the quality of the cable(s). A dollarstore HDMI cable looks the same as a 30$ "ultra HD super fab HDMI cable".

Even Monster Cable, which is far cheaper than that, doesn't provide much of a difference over your standard $20 - $30 cable.

If you use those power cable, you better replace the entire house wiring. And the wires on the utility poles... And more wires going to your power plant.

It is for audiophools. They think 1m of power cable will affect the sound while you have miles and miles of aluminum wire going to the power station.

BTW - I don't think that there is any aluminum in these.

Not sure of other parts of the world but most transmission lines here use aluminum as it is cheaper and lighter.

Well I hope carbon nanowires become viable someday. Lighter than aluminum and more conductive. Save a lot of energy just by getting rid of wasteful wire resistance

Yes I can understand how speaker wires could make the difference but not so much power cables.

I was in a hi end stereo shop in Seattle many years ago and bought a full system (I still have and use it) and they tried to sell me speaker wires that were made out of sterling
silver and had silver brade around the wires for shielding, they looked very much like the "Modina" ones in the link below only they were just several hundred dollars .

silver is a marginally better conductor than copper, but a 16awg copper wire is still better than a 18awg silver one.

Shielding isn't necessary with a low impedance transmission line like speaker cables. Interference energy isn't high enough to affect the voice coil... like, at all.

I think shielding in speaker wire was there to eliminate interference with "TV's" but the cathode ray tubes are gone so probably useless today.
