Hey, I am in the market for a small windows laptop/netbook, something with under a 12" I have been using mac's for the last 5 years and I'm kinda out of the windows world. I use a hp elite book 2740p (on loan from my school) and I am looking for something for personal use, some programming, and CAD design. Is there any compact laptops/net books you guys would recommend?

I was looking at the m11x, it's just a little steep in price.

Some of Dell's new mini-notebooks running the Intel Atom might be a good choice, but remember that you won't get much performance out of one (depends on your CAD program's requirements), and to enjoy "power user" use on a mini laptop you'll want a nice mouse and high-resolution display. Personally, I'd never use a notebook - I just bring a rucksack and a chunky laptop instead. Only problem then is the low battery life of a powerful laptop.

Which reminds me, I need more RAM for my current machine...

We have some Athlon Neo based x100e ideapad netbooks and they slightly outperform their s10e ideapad atom n270 based predecessors. I can't remember off the top of my head what flavor of neo, though...
