Say what?

Not the first, second, third..etc, there's always only "the one" who comes in variations based on a wish choice of the man tired after a head day at work...

This one :p

Clean change of underwear please...

Rock & mud slides are freaking scary. Some things you just don't think of as anything but stationary. To see them move is disturbing.

I saw a large rockslide, fortunately it was just into an empty canyon, but if anyone is in front of one... RIP.

I got caught in one at a mine once

Spent almost six months in a chair after the surgery :(

And considered myself DAMNED lucky :san:

Once while out rockhounding, I found an ancient skeleton in a slide

A fairly large rock had crushed the back of its skull in

Peace,

Wow... congrats on surviving. I can't even imagine 6 months in a wheelchair, that must have been very bad.

The largest rocks in the slide I saw were about half the size of sedans, so not huge like that boulder in the video, but still rather large.

I think I'll stick to watching these natural events occur from the safety of my computer chair :p

Probably the largest rock that went over me was around 2.5 feet dia.

While the rocks and dirt were rolling over me, I remember thinking, "So this is how I die"

I felt something "rub roughly" against the side of my left calf.

We figured out that was probably my leg breaking (shock is a wonderful thing ;) )

It was also what saved my life

That and the fact that I was wearing a hard hat that was strapped on :san:

That foot hanging up between a couple of rocks (breaking my leg) is what kept me from accompanying the slide to the bottom and being buried

When everything stopped moving, my head and my right shoulder and arm were free.

That allowed me to dig myself out

Once I got my feet free and swung them "downhill" so I could sit, is when I noticed that my foot wasn't "lined up" right

I had to crawled out and to my truck

I set myself up for a long stay since I was at the mine alone

I pulled out my sleeping pad, my sleeping bag, and my cooler

I laid down on the pad and bag with my foot up on the cooler

I had a comfortable place to lie and sleep and plenty of food and water to last for several days

Luckily for me, someone came along in just a few hours and went down the hill to call for help

This is one of my real life wins :D

Peace,
dave

@IE

Remeber the cup on the back of the truck, and the biker picks it up and gives it to the driver, I said no way as the bike would slow down, and the cup would have come off long before...well..

Seems legit?

@Dave.... That is a big win. Also kind of makes me glad for cell phones now days. The idea of being in severe pain for days... once shock wore off you would have been in deep doo doo.

@Ped - That's awesome! I still can't believe the cup didn't fall off. I guess it's just the way I drive personally... it would be gone as soon as I made one turn.
