Whos bored?

Hey all!

Yesterday I was a little bored and got a game called minecraft. I saw it in a YouTube video and it looked sweet. So I created an account and started playing

I had so much fun with this simple game I thought I would shares it with all of you on lpf and thought I could possibly make a lpf server! It will be for lpf, friends, family. It would be a great opertunity to meet everyone too. We can chat about everything while having fun in the process!

I don't have a server yet but I will be definitely making one! If your interested you can post below and give me your personal thoughts and opinions. It should be fun! Oh and did I mention the game is free!

Charleybruce was going to set up a game server, but there was not enough people interested, and ping times varied wildly depending on location.

Actually, there is one running at the moment but as far as I can tell nobody has actually used it - I posted in the "LPF Game Server" thread at http://laserpointerforums.com/f58/lpf-game-server-source-games-52958-3.html and on the "TF2" thread somewhere. Unless anyone actually uses it I'll shut it off at the end of the month, since nobody's really benefiting and it is costing me.

Hmm, I never got the email update of that thread.

Anyhoo, point made. Sometimes good ideas fall flat, unfortunately.

The video does look like it could be addictive.

Charlie, if you want you can post your server details in this thread and possibly get more attention for your server. I will happily play on your server . I may even get a few friends to play aswell. I don't think there's really a need for two servers unless one gets alot of traffic.

You can also pm me and I will edit my 1st post to reflect your server.

Let me know because I really wanna play with you all on here.

Well uhm. There is no object. I guess you could say the main objectives are not to die, build stuff, and just have fun. Its a role play game. You just do whatever you want.

Hell T_J already Does whatever He wants, so for Him the game is redundant.

Ha I see. Well If you are looking for an objective.... We could always set some challanges/goals

Like..... who can have the 1st house built and whose is nicer..... or attempt to make bridges between all islands or even make your OWN! There's so many things you could do.... the only limitation is your imagineation.

My girlfriend would agree with that.

There is no killing, treasure, traps, mission? I dont think it would be for me. Hide at night, then build silly stuff till the night comes, then you hide again? You might as well play one of the Tycoon games if you want to build stuff.

Its ok T_J, this game isn't for everyone as with all games

I wont force you to play (not like I could anyhow), but there is far more than build/hide. There are objectives, you just set them yourself. Who says you "HAVE" to hide. There is weapons and armor and monsters you can kill. You can simply walk around at night and kill the creatures. I personally haven't killed a skeleton so perhaps you may be the 1st to do so. You can go around and steal other players items and destroy their property if that is your thing. No this isn't like, Runescape, World of Warcraft, dungeons and dragons or any of those but to me its a fun game as I said before it might not be your kind of game but don't knock it before you try it that's what I'm saying.

I really don't have the time this week.

The video said every player gets a random layout. How can you play multi-player?

I'm not putting it down, just that its not for me.

To be honest I have not yet tried multiplayer Yet, allthough I'm like 90% sure every hosted game has a random layout. This means anyone who plays online with other players will have the same layout as everyone else but only on that hosted server. The video was made using single player meaning if I start a new game and you start a new game we would have different maps.

I want to mention also that if anyone plays this game and needs help locating certain hard to find items like gold and diamonds to just dig verrrrry far down in the map. Gold and diamonds can be found down about 50-100+ blocks down. Make sure you have atleast 5 iron picks and lots of torches and some stone or ladder to make your way out. You might also want to make about 15ish signs so you can find your way out because when your that deep in the ground it isn't easy finding the way out lol.

T_J I know you were lent dissing the game, just thought I'd throw a few pointers out . I do however appreciate your honesty and opinions about it

oh and by the way.... when u mention the tycoon games.... I actually don't like those games at all.

Roller Coaster Tycoon was awesome because you could do this....
