All of that has also been on the local and national news, but it's still a good read.

The way I see it is that the Internet has allowed people
to EASILY spend more and that translates into more packages
being shipped by the Mail...

It may have decreased the amount of very small letter mail
due to essentially FREE E-Mails but the higher costs of shipping
a higher volume of packages should compensate for that...

The Postal System could possibly increase revenue by lowering
the salary of employees. I know that the Canada Post employees
are over paid and coddled...

Yep. The only other explanation would be the other carriers like UPS and FedEX that can deliver the same type packages. In order to compete with them the USPS would have to *gasp* provide a better service. Probably not possible since it's run by the government. :(

The Problem with UPS and FedEx and Purolator is
that they are greedy when it comes to International
Brokerage fees where Canada Post is not...
A $50 item from the USA by UPS can have ~$50.00
in brokerage fees tacked onto the Duty and Taxes.

The problem there is that they are a union, and if that were to happen we could be in the middle of another Canada Post strike. :yabbmad:
