I don´t read books. Mystic River was the last I read. I would recommend it.

I was always much more into nonfiction.

Just bought

Funny. I wonder if it's the same as this 1001 games list: link
I've probably only played %10 of that list.

Don´t know.

From this list I know about 70-80% of the games.

Played about 10-12% of them.

I've had to read tons of Nietzsche and Foucault but neither really give me the warm fuzzies. I rather liked the Tale of Genji and the Tao Te Ching, and found some amazing lines from the Mahabharata and the essential Kabbalah.

Add Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko to the list.

Read the series in both russian an english, the translation is very good... there is virtually no difference. The movies (two in russian) suck.

About to finish the last book in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

Anyone have a recommendation on a long science or fantasy series for me? Preferably 5 books+ but a trilogy at a minimum?

In the last two books I started skipping paragraphs, he's TOO descriptive sometimes.

Still can't wait to see what happens at the very end

I think he wrote some over books in the same setting, after this series... but if you're only on the fourth one you have a looong way to go.

Those Elric books scarred my friend for life, LOL. They paralleled his life at the time. Obviously Elric was a junkie, and addicted to chaos.

I have a collection of original Elric, and Hawkmoon comic books.

So I finished the Pentad Prism, and the Mandel Files.

Considering that the Mandel Files were written in the 70's or 80's (don't remember for sure) I took as an interested perspective of alternate reality vs futuristic writing. The books weren't the greatest, but after a somewhat rocky start, quite good. I'm planning to order the next one.

The Pentad Prism unfortunately was a bit disappointing. Denning does an adequate job in all regards, but nowhere does he do a great job. He doesn't produce the greatest characters or set the scenery very well. The books, at least to me, were painfully predictable, but at the same time full of some inconsistencies.

Currently about halfway through the Way of the Wolf (The Vampire Earth, Book 1) E.E. Knight book. Again a bit of a rough start, but once you're past the first little part, it's actually the best piece of escapism fiction I read in the past six months. Definitely ordering the rest of the series.

So... anyone else read good fiction lately?

The Magic of Reality: How We Know What's Really True
by; Richards Dawkins

It is basically epistemology for the layman

I tried The Hunger Games, but it didn't keep me in it
I gave my copy to one of my Granddaughter's friends
They quote them like I used to quote Rocky Horror

Peace,
dave

RIP Ray Bradbury. August 22, 1920 — June 5, 2012.

I just bought a copy of 451 as a filler on amazon to hit the $25 mark for free shipping the other day.

On other book notes... went through the nine book (so far) Vampire Earth series by EE Knight. It isn't the greatest series I ever read, but it was very entertaining, and for the most part kept me engaged.

The Title is a bit of a misnomer, and I'm sure a lot of people pass it because of the "vampire" part. It's a book about post apocalyptic earth, invaded by aliens, who happen to live off of an aura given off by sentient beings... hence the vampire part.

Also just finished The Magicians' Guild by Trudi Canavan. It's simplistic, but entertaining enough... I ordered the other two books from the trilogy.

Up next is a four book series by Peter F. Hamilton.
