I work for Stevens Surveying.

Ya gps is amazing nowadays with our new Trimble R-8 system we usually get accuracies of 0.01' horizontal and 0.03 vertical crazy considering the satellites are over 10000 km+ away and moving :O

PBD you have a fine day !

Alright, here's a picture for you. This has been published (in fact, this photo is lifted directly from the publication), so it's all good to share. This is a 506nm laser diode made in our lab. Pretty cool, eh?

LOL all I see are 2 sticks and a green light.

The diode is still on-wafer, the 2 sticks are electrical probes providing the electricity to the diode.

The green light on the paper is the far-field pattern of the laser diode coming out of one facet.

Before I blew out 3 discs in my back, & the 7 surgical ATTEMPTS to fix my back failed, I used to be an A-1 RATING FORK-LIFT operator, loading jets with freight for all over the world. My last year at the airport was as a QUALITY CONTROL OFFICER. Making sure that what was on each jet was stacked & packed with all the correct freight. We shipped some real exotic stuff. Once we shipped 3 baby Hammerhead sharks to an aquarium. Also, a lot of expensive show dogs going to competitions. You name it, I probably have shipped it. Now I'm on disability, like T J. What a bite in the a** rob

Student here, going to be double majoring in Physics and Computer Science, hopefully moving forward with Physics in grad school to get my PhD eventually, although I'm not sure what in the world I will do after that ;)

What can I offer? Not much I'm afraid...haha I'm not GREAT with electronics, but I am fairly decent. If anyone ever wants to use linux or has issues with it I can probably help, I love open software.
PS: If you haven't seriously give linux a try ;)

i'm majoring in liberal arts and philosophy and minoring in women studies. i am a math tutor unprofessionally for now. i only tutor trig and below. i'm not a math wiz, but i'm a good tutor as my friends say :p

i also enjoy supporting my friends when they have emotional problems. many of my friends have opened up to me and told me things they couldn't tell other people. i've thought about being a therapist/hotline person but it's more of a personal thing for me so i'd probably get fired XD

in the end i just want to lead a simple life of being a professional math tutor :p i want to open my home to those in need and just share dinner together with everyone. i try my best to make my home a home away from home for those i care about. many times it's an abusive bf or just loneliness XD i still live at home right now, but i still open my home since my parents are cool with it. i plan to do the same and take it even further once i have a place of my own. i've always felt strongly and emotionally closer with my chick friends, so that's kind of why i do these things XD of course there are just some things guys get more so i still need my guy friends of course. >.<

No, the bee die off is not bs. The catch all phrase "Colony Collapse Disorder" is bs though. It is called that because it could not be determined what killed the bees. We have been able to find the cause of most of our bee mortality here in Alberta. Of course our bees can't dissapear here through the winter. They would freeze before they got 6 inches from the cluster. We have the luxury of finding all their carcases which can then be checked for viruses, parasites, etc.
