Is that game addicting? I alway wanted to try it out.

Yes, very. I will say though that if you try it, get into a good player corporation (guild) asap. It will make your life a lot easier.

The cool things about the game that make it unique are:

1) The story is totally player scripted. There are quests and things you can do, but it's secondary to the bigger game.

2) You don't have to grind to the "next level" in order to progress. There are no levels. New skills are learned over time - even when you're not logged in!

3) The game universe is HUGE. At this time I think there are something like 7500 star systems. if you actually tried to fly across even a smaller sized system at full speed it would literally take you years. Thank god for warp drives. :D

4) There is only one server, so things that happen on one side of the galaxy affect everyone. (i.e. A new alliance has just taken control of the bulk of valuable moons in a certain region of space which effects the market price of tech II production, driving the market price up or down on certain goods accordingly.)

5) PvP actually means something in the game. When you get your ship blown up, you can actually feel it. There is a sense of loss. That ship and all the components on it are gone. *poof* The enemy (or your friends) can grab the remaining gear off of your wreck and salvage that wreck as well. You can also get your opponents gear from his ship.

This possibility of loss (or gain) puts a real feeling of danger and excitement in fights that you are in... I've never experienced that before in a game. Of course, you never fly anything that you can't afford to lose because, well, you can end up in the poor house if you're careless.

You don't HAVE to shoot people of course. You can decide to be a miner in a quiet system or be a market trader. Or you could be all of them. You're not restricted to any single career.

6) Everything is player player produced. Every item that you use has been manufactured by another player, who got his components from someone else, who got his raw materials from someone else... you get the idea.

7) The community is unlike any other that I've seen for an online game. There are tons of blogs, podcasts, etc, which make it easy to keep up on the latest political maneuvering and scuttlebutt if that's what interests to you. There are actual EVE "celebrities" and other famous/notorious folk to varying degrees - all which wouldn't really be possible if everyone was scattered on different servers.

So yeah, it's addicting. I actually had two accounts active at one time for a while. heh.

I picked up a 22" Samsung LED lit 1080p TV for $175. The picture is nice but that audio is meh. You can't expect much from a small TV in the audio department though.
