Visa gift card FROM HELL

I recently received one of those "Visa Gift Cards" that was worth $30. I went to buy $29.95 worth of games on steam but it didn't work. I went to check my balance online and it was $29. Wierd, I thought, so I went to try again but removed a $.99 game. Once again it didn't work and now my account ballance is $28. So now I'm pissed because there charging me for doing nothing and I spent forever trying to get a bunch of good games to total less then $30.

So I go to the "contact" page on gift2go.net in order to talk to someone about it and on that page it says:

"Please note: Due to a change in the law, beginning July 10, 2007 our Visa gift cards can no longer be used for any online gaming transactions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you"

Sure, now they tell me. I am still going to contact them about this because its unacceptable that they charge you for something that they should clearly state you can't do. But since I know nothing will ever happen... I won't get my $2 back... I can't buy the games while they're still on sale... visa will keep the $2... does anyone know a way to extract the money from the card in cash? It says on the back of the card that you can't get cash from it nor can you use it at an ATM, but theres got to be a loophole somewhere. Does anyone know it?

I guess you could hook it to a paypal and send it to yourself, however fees would be a large chunk out of the money

what does your transaction details say? these things are kinda screwy at times. like they'll take a dollar just for adding the card to paypal. you may get a refund though. i had some refunds take a day or 2 and theres no refunds on the weekends :-/

I managed to call the company and they said that "online gaming" referred to betting so you were right sagi (also I can't get my license till the 5th, so no need for gas). And yeah steam adds a dollar to your transaction to make sure you have significant funds and then refunds that dollar in a few days... which is retarded but oh well. The guy that I contacted said to use the card I have to buy another one (after the two dollars is refunded by steam) worth $31 that way I could get the games. Kinda stupid but oh well. Hope its refunded by the 2nd, cuz that's when all the crazy deals are over!

Is anyone else experiencing a "this account has been suspended error" for that link? That would be kick-ass if it worked. I'll probably never get rid of this damn olive garden gift card that's slowly rotting away in my wallet.

I'm getting that error this morning as well. The link was posted in the "Very Short List" mail list on the 26th. It probably just got its bandwidth overrun.

Peace,
dave
