Congrats 'Z' your turnout is typical of most first time LEMs- I had only three real laseists at mine- but still consider it to be a huge success.
were there any PJs there? IIRC Tmack has one he got from me.LK 3D . I may be doing a GB for more of those as i had to sell mine and miss it- super first time PJ IMO.
I had no clue what a game changer for me that 2010 SELEM was going to be-
I was all about PJs and LEMs after that.. I had owned a RED HeNe spiro two motor w/ speed and direction control for VERY LONG TIME. - (like 1988)-- before we had any green pointers-- when they came along- another game changer..
NOW is the best time for any to move up to laser projectors- no more need for spendy 473 blue- and the cost of 532 has dropped a LOT_ scanners are now better and cheaper as well as red modules-- once a beam can be tamed from diodes like the Mitsubs we will have affordable red- and in time the 1W green diodes will get cheaper-
as-is we must deal with wonky DPSS and poor modulation- diode greens will have neither of these problems -- they have already dropped ~25% in price- and 1W may be just too much green- as presently it takes ~1W of 445 blue to match brightness by eye for a 50mW 532-- thus 1W of 520 means a very dialed back green or VERY powerful R & B-- about 1W if the red is 640nm (2x that for 650nm)- - but ~3W of 445 blue to match the green- so we are talking before losses of a 5 W PJs- wow !! -
very glad you all enjoyed the LEM- hope to see some of you at SELEM in Aug.
Looks like you guys had a blast I really wish I could have made it butt I caught a bit of a bug and was super sick.. I will definitely be coming to the next meet! Lookin forward to it hope I dont have to wait until next year. Any ideas on when another meeting may b scheduled?
I think everyone was just used to lasers. Projectors going non stop, lpm calibration thanks to Trevor. But the flashlights got the attention in the end because they are new to us.
