USPS Quite Worthless

Well, I had purchased about 450 dollars worth of diodes and drivers from DTR, and my tracking said out for delivery. Of course I was very excited, and waited around FOREVER because I had signature confirmation.

Hours pass. The clock ticks. The minutes drag by. I begin to wonder if the mail will EVER come.

Thinking maybe something happened I go on and check my packages tracking info. Now. There are two packages. My package with signature delivery says "notice left". Da fuk? I check my door....no notice. I think: "maybe she left the notice in the mailbox...at any rate, I can get my other package at the same time as I check for the notice." I am very irritated she didn't even ATTEMPT a delivery, but I need to know what is going on here.

I stroll to the mailbox, open it up and I have a package!......from Amazon. Looks like my tripod got here a day early(review coming). But nothing else....no notice, no package, not even a key for the bulk mailbox that they put your stuff in when things are big.

So I check the package status of the non-signature delivery package and it still says out for delivery...

Long story short: USPS decided in their infinite wisdom to not even attempt the delivery on my signature confirmation package, and they also disregarded another one of my packages and didn't bother to even leave a note.

USPS, you are a worthless pile of shit. Why does anyone use you? Why do I use you? Why can't you hire people that don't have, in the words of my neighbor, "a Cranial Rectal Insertion".

/Rant
Thanks for listening to the diatribe,
Isaac

Just had a packaged returned that I sent to Bulgaria. I checked lithium battery requirements on line and at the post office when I sent them :scowl:

Usually the Canada Post tracking doesn't even update until after the package has been delivered. :p

Of the probably hundreds of items I've shipped in my lifetime I've only had one item completely vanish. Unfortunately it was an iPod I was sending to Istanbul, Turkey. :(

Isaac, I'm sorry you went through that. (oh, and a big thank you! Sorry!)

I have a better experience when I have things delivered to work, rather than the apartment. It's a gamble with anything big. And if it is sig required, work it is!

My beef is with UPS and Amazon. They want to charge me $79 a year for "Prime" when you cannot even manage to get my packages on time?? No, sir..Not with this guy.

Ive shipped 3 lasers in the past month, one within the US and two to europe. The US laaer was sucessfully tracked the whole way and both europe packages got delivered in 6-7 days. Tracking for my sky ray coming from china sucks. Says its been sitting in NY for two days so hope it arrives tomorrow. Overall im happy with usps in my area but I also know the post man very well. Played varsity basketball with his son. He walks every package to the door for me even if it fits in the mail box, its all in who you know now a days :D

Well. I called them and I am going to be knocking on their doors at 8:59am. As I recall, this is a paid service. Ergo lazy mailmen are an intolerable blight on their business. I am not going to wait until 6pm just to get a package their lazy asses wouldn't deliver the first day.

My day off and I have to be up early. All because some crotchety mail person wouldn't do her job.

Same here, ApexProxy sent me an envelope from Cali to me over 8 days ago and it should have been here already. Also tonyt sent me a pair of Bose headphones 3 weeks ago and nothing. The RC quadcopter he sent got returned to him because the battery was installed in it, but USPS says on there site that batteries are aloud as Long as they are installed in the devise. F**k USPS and now FedEx now joined up with USPS. I should start using UPS!!!

I've had bad luck with the USPS as of late also. Had one worker just leave the notice and walk away, no ring the bell; nothing. As I was sitting on the porch waiting for him and my package, I grabbed the notice and caught up with him. I held up the notice and he said "you have to pick that up at the office", I almost crapped my pants right there. Isn't it in the truck? He said he would check. Yup it was in the truck, he had filled out the notice wile still in the truck. Tracking said it was out for delivery. I have another item ,that's been sitting in NYC for 6 days now, or that's what tracking says. One other thing they like to do is just stop updating the tracking so you get to guess when it will arrive.

I think the reason your night stay stuck in NY(or CA) is due to international mail getting low priority. So it is just "whenever they get to it". Seriously though...mine didn't even leave the notice! Just updated the tacking.

I've had it where tracking says notice left and the postman never shows up at all. The worst I can remember three days went by and no mail each day, yet it stated "notice left, will redeliver". It turns out the local PO was getting so few mail they were holding on to everyone's mail until enough came to justify the fuel expense in delivering it.

They do this every now and then it seems since the financial problems USPS has been having... if the local PO doesn't get enough to justify fuel costs, they just sit on the mail for a while. I nearly lost my disability case because they took 14 days to deliver a letter to me requesting additional information after the point that it hit my local PO. I only won the appeal because my claims examiner used to live out in a rural area too.

That's terrible Sig. This is one of the major concerns with the idea of doing away with the USPS altogether. What a lot of people don't realize is in a lot of rural areas they are still the only ones that will deliver. Commercial services still rely on them too in those cases.
