Figured a UK Election thread was in order, seeing as we're getting close to the election now.

Thoughts? Who are you supporting? Who will win?

Subscribed as this could get interesting.
My thoughts ATM is to vote Conservatives not because I want to, but because I don't particularly have faith in Corbyn surrounding Brexit. Times like this I wish there was a option for NOTA. None of the above party.

Watching BBC QT with Theresa May "vs" Jeremy Corbyn just now. I say "vs" because it's not a 1v1... She's still having a hard time answering questions with direct and honest answers...

Hoping Corbyn strolls in looking like this half way through May's section...

Could always just spoil your ballot? :p Not sure how anyone can vote for the Tories with May as the leader, I could understand it if they had a half decent leader. She's definitely going to be no better than Corbyn at Brexit negotiations, probably worse, IMO. That said, I think it'll be a shitshow no matter who is involved.

Haven't paid as much attention to this as I should have. Seems like the conservatives aren't getting the support they would like. Some say it is a response to Trump. I really don't know.

That meme was too funny. :D
I agree totally with your last comment.
Theresa is going to win anyway, I can tell already.

IMO, they've ran a terrible campaign and that's cost them. They started with more than a 20 point lead over Labour but polls are now averaging out to about an 8 point lead. Some polls have them at <5 points.

I think she will too... but if she loses any seats or doesn't gain many she'll be in for a tough time. I can see her resigning if that happens.

Jeremy Corbyn (and labour in general) are a disaster who haven't a clue what they're saying. Lib dems I don't like, and Theresa May possesses a literal inability to answer any question. Ask her what black looks like and she go "well, if you look at the shades on the paper, you will see how it represents the money conservatives have generated from positive revenue streams around the country...) yada yada. As usual it's a case of least bad option so for me I'd probably be voting conservative or nothing.

Let's hope muh Russia doesn't get dragged into it.

Probably will... Something something Comrade Corbyn.

Surprised you guys think the Conservatives are the least bad of the bunch! Interesting!

Yeah, I don't get that either. Maybe it's because they were reared in a conservative household. From the reactions, it seems they would never vote Labor if Hitler were the conservative candidate.

I'm totally left wing, although not as much as I used to be, so I of course really dislike the Tories. Especially after seeing what they've done to Scotland over the years. If they had a great leader/MP then I could understand ... but Theresa May? Trencheel summed her up well... she's about as useful as a chocolate teapot. But hey, to each their own!

I think Corbyn is actually doing well, given the total media bias against him and the infighting in his party. He's able to debate, answer questions and talk to the public like a regular human being. He seems genuine and passionate in his beliefs, which align well with mine. That said ... I can't say the same for the rest of the Labour party, especially the Scottish Labour party, they're a mess.

If I were voting I'd be voting SNP, they're left wing, although not extremely so and I'm a supporter for independence so they're the only choice for me. I tried to get a proxy vote during the 2014 referendum but I was told "You weren't ever registered to vote previously before leaving the country and as a result are unable to register for this vote" ... pretty sure I had been registered before, but OK. Of course, I'm still interested in UK politics, as I'm still a British citizen and not a Canadian citizen (don't have a vote here either).

So, you don't get to vote anywhere? That sucks. I'd be all over the voter registration in the UK to get my vote, if I were in your shoes. If you ever voted before, you were registered to vote. There should be a record of that. Of course, I don't know how things are done in the UK, so I am basically assuming.

I had never voted before, I left Scotland when I was 19 so I didn't get the chance. For most elections you need to be 18 and there weren't any elections between when I turned 18 and when I left. I was sure I had registered but apparently not it seems.

My parents and my sister get a proxy vote, but they all voted before we moved here.

I'm going to need to apply for my Canadian citizenship so that I can vote here. This is my home now anyway.

It's a shame you never got to vote. I voted for the first time on my 18th birthday.

I don't particularly like Conservatives or Labour. Lib Dems have no chance, same for parties like Green Party. So its two short straws similar to the way Trump and Clinton went in the US. This sure isn't a good time for anyone right now. The British don't usually hold grudges against a party but Labour being responsible for Tony Blair is an exception.
And that man is still piping up in Brexit debates.
So which one do we go for?

It's about the welfare state and immigration. The attempt to change the demographics of a country while bleeding social programs to support this new dependable voting base. It's not virtue its power. Look at the new Germany, France, Sweden...how could you wish this on yourself? It's these kinds of policies that make the void that a Hitler would fill.

So you voted for the first time ON your 18th birthday. How does that work? I mean, how do you register to vote and do it all on the same day? Interesting. I am curious, though.
