I'm trying to get some 445nm diodes off to China, I shipped them on the 5th, and the scheduled delivery date on UPS was Tuesday, but they didn't arrive in China. Now I check the tracking today, and it says "UPS is holding the shipment per a contract service offering"

Anyone know what this means, and if I need to do anything? Getting really worried about it now, as it's a lot of money at risk if something has gone wrong.

Thats a new one on me...can you not phone them to see whats going on?....providing you can speak fluent chinglish..

They're already out of Australia, the last status before the held in warehouse thing was a departure scan from Singapore. I emailed the people I am sending them too, and suggested they may want to give UPS a call. Being Chinese, they'd get much further than UPS than I would.

Hope it's nothing too bad.

Well, 3 days later and its still "held in warehouse" I have been trying to contact UPS, but due to the flooding down South, the telecommunications network is hugely congested, so I haven't had any luck reaching them via phone. Annoying!

I guess that's diodes from truckload of projectors you extracted for them?

I ain't sure if there's anything else to do except put hands together and pray to your diety of choice. Postage systems...

Postage service contracting, first thing to come to mind is that you didn't donate enough dollas for them to haul their respective asses.
Who payed for that shipping?

We have a shipment out to PR with the same statement in the UPS tracking. We called them and found out that "UPS is holding the shipment per a contract service offering" means they are missing some sort of info. In our case it was the federal tax number. Stupid UPS doesn't contact us (or you by the sounds of it) and express delivery becomes slower than the post. You MUST contact them or else nothing will happen.

The package has now made its way to Beijing, however it's being held in warehouse again. However the receiver will deal with them now.
