so it all started at the first sign of snow, i went to some privately owned tire chain store place to get my old studded tires off (i swapped them with my street set myself, its 400x faster to do it by hand)
so i drove there with my studded tire that still has 95% of the metal on it and 3 that had metal buttons, sunk into the rubber... even the rubber on those 3 was worn down quite a lot.  i came armed with a nice set my mom bought on craigs list. they had a lot more metal than the ones i had.
3 hours of watching americas funniest home videos later, i realized they said it would only take one hour max, so i went to bug them and they said "oh its done, sorry we missed you" and i paid 65 bux and left.
my mom kept telling(texting, calling) me to pay them the 3 bucks each  to have them take the old tires away, but i was half way home at that time.
then it rained. all day. and it was 25 outside. had something to do with warm air above. my car was coated in a quarter inch of ice on the back, and an eighth everywhere else. it was bonded to my car so bad the ice scraper wouldn't touch it on the window.
then the snow storm hit, apparently gresham, or was so un prepared they whined to get the national guard in to help. 2 days later im driving in there to get to my girl friends house, the roads were fine. then over the next few days as it melts it just gets nasty. i ran a red light going to the highway home... light turned red, hit brakes... nothing. lol at least no car was ahead of me and the others couldn't go fast enough to get in front of me. it might have had to do with the rain earlier that day. the highways were wet the rest of the way back. next day my trusty navigator sent me heading south away from the city on some back road, my tires barely getting grip because i was sliding on the ice between the tire paths, for about a quarter mile before we realized we were lost. the road had a bit of traffic and i found myself going a bit fast, and trying to avoid the oncoming cars i somehow almost went in the ditch (game over since the tow trucks are back ordered)  but managed some hand shuffling to keep the thing in the general forward direction. my navigator almost had a heart attack.
at this time, the roads to our houses were still snowed in, but all the main roads were plowed and wet. and since it was wet out the snow turned to slush. so all that nice packed snow near our houses turned to 8" deep slush. fun to drive in!  you'll pretty much get stuck if you let off the gas, cause the snow is up to the bottom of my car. sometime today me n friends went out for some shopping, and i decided to look at my new snow tires. the one on the drivers front looked nice, and for some reason the front right had no studs left. nor did the back right, or left. needless to say i was pissed. but somehow laughed cause i realized i managed to drive through all that shit with some horrible tires on lol
on the plus side, i got a new laptop for christmas. the downside, it has vistaids.
tomorrow i go back to do some yelling at the tire people
hope everyone had a merry christmas
