Interesting thought I had during twilight sleep on the plane.

What if in the future they develop amnesia compound to tip needles with. *So that you don't remember the stick at all, the pain, even a second or two before. *Nothing.

However, due to this development, all restrictions on needle sizes are lifted. *The theory is that it doesn't matter the size of needle if you won't remember it. *So now you could get stuck with a needle .25in in diameter.

So would you rather a narrow needle that you will remember, or a large, very painful needle, that you will forget? *Thoughts?

Wait, so you do or don't feel the large needle? Cos your 2 sentences are a bit contradicting :D

Although personally I'd prefer no needles :p

After it happens, you won't remember it. After the amnesia kicks in. Although during, it'll hurt like hell.

Eh, I'd just suck up the pain of the smaller needed without any amnesia. The idea of something causing memory loss is more bothersome to me than a needle poke.

Reminds me of when I had my wisdom teeth pulled out. I could either be knocked out completely or have just a local anesthetic. I chose the local. I don't like being unconscious, not knowing what is happening, etc. I'd prefer to take the pain.

Now if they only had something to make it easier for a person to get past the mental issues of sticking a needle into themselves, that would be great.

Addiction easily overcomes this hesitancy

Considering the last time I had blood taken for tests, I was poked about 10-15 times, I'll just suck it up instead of missing memories.

Do what most people who got over needle phobias do: give yourself a reward every time you stab yourself with a needle! But maybe stick to a piece of candy or a high five or something....

Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid fits the bill.

That aside,I get needles stuck in me weekly for INR tests, I have weird blood that seem to clot for fun.(I heal very fast but have had three PE's over the last 20 years)

cheers

Why not just take a tablet, I personally don't like this particular dosage form, Not because of the pain and needle stuff.. But the general practice is not upto standards esp for intravenous doses.

Needles can't be avoided when you need to deliver local anesthesia.

I just had a minor foot surgery done today... no way they could have worked on me without making me completely numb down there, and general anesthesia would have been way too much just for cutting open my toe.

As a side note... Doc ended up using a 10W 1064nm laser to destroy my nail bed... I insisted on watching :D
