are there designs that work for green lasers?

Like the dollar store red laser where you can screw on a cap, are there working versions of these for greens? i dont know where my cheap red is, so i dont have any to try with my green.

You mean, the little bullet style lasers?

Because with green you need to cram in crystals and lenses and what not, plus you need more power for the 100mW+ IR pump diode, than a 5mW red diode, you can't generally find greenies in such a small case.

They are around though.

yes i mean the little bullet shaped lasers.
well i mean why cant you just shine a green through the little cap that is supposed to make the image?
When i had my 150mW focusable i was able to unfocus the laser and shine it through my windows screen. the large dot had checkered lines through it when i shined it at a tree. it seems that this would be possible as long as you can adjust the focus. i will have to buy some of these caps again and try it when i get my 150mW focusable.

edit:
and here is a wonderful picture i made showing the laser being shined through the window screen, someone with this laser really should actually try it and take a picture.

oh, you mean those little "lenses" you can put on dollar store lasers that project an image of say, a peace sign or a heart or whatnot?

I think those are diffraction gratings actually, and I don't see any reason your green wouldn't work with them.

Ah, the caps. Actually, sounds like a good way to make some cheap effects :)

I was thinking of some design with a rotative piece of metal that housed three or four pairs of crystals, so inside the laser build we'd have a 3W IR diode and as we rotated the cilyndrical piece of metal we'd get different colours. when i have the time i'll create a pic of my idea and i'll show it to you :)

A couple of years ago I saw something like that on ebay, although it was pen style and it had 5 caps. You can always just hold one of those caps from dollar store pointers up to your laser.

Yea greens work well with those diffraction gratings. As I noticed, not sure if 100% accurate, the smaller the divergence , the clearer the picture, and the smaller the diameter, the smaller the picture(or divergence after the grating). :-/

I made an adaptor for my red laser but haven't bothered for my dx30 since I'm too lazy to figure out how to adapt it. :-/

So my guess is the dollar store caps will be just SWELL will the Focusable laser. Since you can unfocus it and make the divergence much bigger, you can project a large and clear image. I'm almost sure it will work!
anyone with the baton style laser should try it!

if you bought that kaleidoscopic 30mw from dx you could mod the lens so you could take out the diffraction grate and replace it with a collimating lens. now you have a focusable greenie :)

Nope. You see, as you unfocus the laser, the image get's blurrier..... :p

are you sure about that? because cheap red's are quite weak, and the divergence sucks. when you unfocus the the KD green the huge unfocused dot is still brighter than the red, i would assume it would look great, however if you tried to shine the full non focused beam through it would be too bright you couldnt even see an image, the brightness would overpower it all.

lol yes you bought it...now did you ever receive it? or did some other lucky man in Argentina get it?

Yea, I'm pretty sure.Cheap reds have good enough divergence for those to work, but if you focus it to a big blob, the image is gonna be blurry. I'll try to take some pictures.

Edit: added picture

I have no real idea how diffraction gratings work but it seems to me like if you unfocused it it would simply unfocus the lines of the image.

note that they're not simply covers with patterns cut out of them, they are like prisms that diffract the beam into that shape.

Yeah, exactly, the image I just added proves this.Btw, here's one with green :D
