Stupid Xbox360 and its red-ring-of-death

I just got the RROD on my Xbox360... second time since I bought it (been about 2 years now). Fortunately, Microsoft extends the warranty for RROD and I also purchased the extra warranty, so repair is free, but I still won't have it for about two weeks

I usually use it to watch TV shows I download and I just got an HD copy of the Dark Knight converted and was going to watch it today before I got the RROD... RRRRRRRR! DAMN YOU MICROSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFT!!!!!

It can be fixed, my friend fixed his several times. the first time he said the board was screwed in too tight and had bent a little, he unscrewed it and put spacers on the screws to stop it from bending again. he also changed all the thermal compound on the chips and GPU.

That would void the warranty... I'd prefer to just get a newly working one from Microsoft. After my warranty's up and if it happens again, then I'll resort to fixing it myself

might be time to buy some hdddddvd external's for it on ebay for cheap, if ya know what i mean

(unfortunately the ones i find on ebay are all like "zomg high def player" not mentioning its going obsolete... so they are about 30 bux... when they hit rock bottom i'm going to pick up a few and see if i can find me sum lazor parts)

speaking of which, i heard someone made an external blu ray player to play just blu ray movies on the xbawks o.0

my sons just got the rrod last weekend so i called 1-800-4my xbox
and they will repair it for free they even pay shipping ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, mine's getting repaired for free (and they gave me a shipping label to get it to them), but it's still going to take ~2 weeks, they say :-/

Kinda wish they'd just ship me a new Xbox and let me return the broken one since they're basically sending me a different one anyway.

the towel trick severely overheats the unit making it almost if not un-repairable
later on :-/

reminds me of the old saw-dust in your engine to make it stop knocking long enough to sell it to some poor unknowing person
