That looks like something from a video game! not real life! Who thought it would be a good idea to put big metal cylenders in the road that come up and destroy your car? Dr. Robotnick? They were just trying to follow the bus down the road .. and that one mercedes had a poor little baby in it! damn dirty politicians.. guess this is what we have to look forward to in America

I think it is a splendid Idea, actually - why not have those in the HOV lanes here, too ? It would damned sure cut down on the amount of illegal traffic ! If that is a lane specifically for busses, then the cars shouldn't be in there - and also, IMO - stupid people shouldn't breed, either - sorry for the innocent child, but had the parents been smart enough to follow the signs, and not drive in a bus lane, then that would have never happened ! I say, bring it on - I would LOVE to see that implemented in America - of course one idiot is all it would take to sue - just like the McDonalds lawsuit and the hot coffee. Why not invent something that stops lawsuits ?

They should put those things in the carpool lanes on freeway, imagine a fuel tanker truck hitting one at 70mph! ;D Seriously it seems a little overkill though, those things are usually used to protect govenrment buildings from suicide car/truck bombs. :-X As for not breeding, thye should cut down on inbreeding in certain places, that would stop many problems right there. ;D ;D

Who is a pain in ass????

Those big Gates for the buses are the pain in the ass. I hope they never come to the US, we have enough freaking traffic problems already. Why would those people even attempt to go through? Did they just not know what that lane was for?

I would certainly HOPE they didn't know they were there ! Hmmm - about the technoogy - I'll bet it is a magnetic solenoid that is triggered as the rear of the bus passes over it. Any other guesses ?

Its a transponder type technology like used in aircraft AFAIK , its very cheap and been around for years, the Barrier constantly "Pings" at short range. As a bus approaches, its transponder pings back its ID to the barrier and the barrier drops, then an IR sensor checks when the bus has safely passed and the barrier is raised again. Totally passive, the bus driver has to do nothing.

DAmn SenKat, you must love 2 carpool. Did you see the last one where a red truck drove through and a white truck got smashed for following it?! I always drive down the wrong way when it's a one way street and sometimes miss other important signs -- but I'd be damned if the government puts big steel "battle-bot" inspired columns that come up and smash me! As for how it's done, probably something like that backup sensor on nice cars that go "beeeeeep-beep-beep".

Ya know the doggone signs are VERY LARGE AND OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND FLASHING NEON. how can you miss that? the beginning of the movie shows the signs. very easy to miss and inconspicous? I THINK NOT! that one guy at the end is a delivery driver and has I'm sure been around for some time in that city. so it's not like he didn't know they were there. I do feel for the child in the back. she suffered as a result of the parents stupidity not the city or the technology. Still funny as hell to see moron's getting what they deserve.
