Hey guys, I'm doing a review on the Stanley FatMax Spotlight.

I bought the spotlight 2 years ago, and lost it, so now I bought another.

The product can be bought at Walmart although it used to be able to be bought on Amazon.
Here are the specs.

Two modes, continuous 400 lumens, and continuous up to 2000 lumens. Some people say it's more like 1000-1400 lumens and I would agree.
Battery is Li-Ion
Battery powers spotlight on high setting for 1 hour. On low setting for 7 :)hours.
Two large heat sinks on the side allow for continuous use (yes they get very hot!). Infrared thermal device shows 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
Although heat does build up quickly, this does not seem to affect performance very much.
Price is $50
Reflector, not focusing lens.
Beam dot: Circular
Takes 4-6 hours to charge.:)
7.8 x 6.5 x 3.8 inches
1.5 pounds
Charge current is 500mah.
Battery is 7.4 volts
I don't know the capacity but it says it takes six hours to charge at 500mah, so probably 3000-4000mah guess.

The light comes with a 120v AC adapter and also a 12v car adapter. You can run the flashlight when it is plugged in but it is recommend to only do so when powering it through the DC adapter. That's because the AC adapter doesn't have enough current to allow continuous running. For that reason, if you power it through the 120v AC adapter, it just drains the Li-Ion battery.

The claimed output is 2000 lumens, although I have no way to test it.
The LED is a 10 watt Cree LED, not sure what model though. :shhh:

I heard it is the Cree XM-L. Two new Stanley FAT MAX LED Spotlights out - Page 2

The light is very light, not heavy at all. 24 ounces or 1.5 pounds. Comes with a quality lanyard which I already lost!:eg:

I must say I am impressed, it throws a beam a good 600' at night. Meaning someone in a field during a pitch black night can be seen 600' feet (Distance is right on-I'm not guessing) away with easy.

Below are some pics of it. I'll take an image at night and post that.

Sorry I'm not going to open it up for a review!

Hope you like the review!

Looks to me like you've repeated what you read on the back of the box or on CPF and then taken some nondescript pictures. There is SOO much information missing.

"it's light" That doesn't mean anything. HOW light?
"heat sinks get hot" That doesn't mean anything. HOW hot?
"it throws a beam a good 600' at night." Based on what measurements?

What is the drive current? Battery voltage? Battery capacity? Charge current? Current regulation window? beam lux? thermal performance? inside pictures?

Update in progress with requested info.

EDIT: Done. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

And go easy on me, it's my first review here, so I'm doing my best.

@Cyparagon-I don't know what current regulation window means, not sure if your asking to make me look stupid but if you explain I'll let you know!

What is the input voltage range at which the driver can properly regulate current?

6.4-9.6v

Tested on exact same driver not the one in the light. Anyways, how can this help someone buying it?

It lets the potential buyer know how the light maintains its brightness throughout the battery life.

Yes that is stated on the packaging that it will maintain brightness right up to the LV cutoff.

That's the point of a review! You confirm if the manufacturer is truthful of their claims in the packaging. How it performs etc etc etc. It's not a review if it is just a bunch of pictures and description copied from the manufacturer. We could get that information just by going to the manufacturer's website.

I'm telling you how I felt about the purchased, if it worked well, imo, not based on stats.

If you need more info, let me know! I'll respond ASAP!

I'm just trying to help you. What you "think" is a review may not be a review to others. A good review already has all the info in it. No need to ask the op. Just read previous reviews and see what you think should be included information on the flashlight you purchased.

Does anyone else have the mini fat max or the standard yellow 200L one? I think the mini is water proof and can be used for swimming.
