Hey guys,

As some of you probably noticed I've decided to keep my 2.5W 532 lab laser after trying to sell it 3 times :wtf: I also tend to have trouble staying on top of one decision as my mind races all over the place and sometimes I want to keep a laser I have and other times I want to get rid of it for something else. I do suffer from anxiety and OCD so I wanted to apologize if this has angered or frustrated anybody here. Just wanted you to be aware that I realize some of my behavior can be annoying at times :(

Thanks
-Alex :yh:

Do not worry, Alex. Absolutely no need for apology IMO. I think nobody here is annoyed - there are trolls here to be annoying, not valuable members as you are. ;) And I completely understand your concerns, as I mentioned you earlier, I feel the same when I go for something expensive. And to be honest, Optotronics RPL-II 1.4+ W at 532 nm is still laying in my mind as kind of future reward from me to myself for finishing some projects in my work, so maybe this feeling is not that far in the future for me. :D

Alex, you don't have to apologise. I have my own problems, and I'm sure everyone else has their own. Please don't worry about us. I don't actually think you have annoyed anyone just like Radim has already pointed out. I have Asperger's and have anxiety problems as well. I often overthink everything I write on here to make sure that I am remain respectful, tactful and use appropriate humour in places. I'm sure we are probably not alone when it comes to anxiety. Maybe this is a good opportunity for others to share any problems if they wish.

Well anyway, don't worry! :)

Definitely no need to apologize I think some of us were just a little bit sad to see you try to sell it for 2/3's of what you got it for despite the value and condition. We are all prone to changing our minds from time to time. It is just a small part of what makes us human.
Besides, I don't think I can even count the number of decisions I have gone back and forth on. Whether it be what I want to do with my life, what hobby to keep, or even whether to keep my lasers or not... I also tend to change my mind A LOT. Lasers are my happy place though and I always find myself brought back to them.
I myself have the kind of mindset where if I do not keep myself occupied it leads to very dark places very quickly.

Besides, there are many of us on here that have done worse than change their mind a few times. I will be one of the first to admit that I can be very abrasive at times or even downright a pita when irritated enough.

As for indecisiveness, you should see how many revisions this post went through before I finally hit submit.

What everyone has said:) no need to be sorry:)
You will be surprised just how many suffer from anxiety and this OCD obsession. I might not have it to your extreme, but I do go through my daily rituals and can think impending doom coming if I don't do things in order.
It kills me also:banghead: when you turn around and sell something for penny's on the dollar when youv'e invested so much time into it. When you get the urge just keep putting it off day to day.
This hobby doesn't help also:can: as everytime I see something like Lifetimes builds I want to jump on one, even though I might have 10 of the same M140 builds for example.;)

I really like how much emphaty is in the LPF community here. Good to know such a supporting environment.

And as mentioned everybody has his/her dark places of mind. Just look at the human brain - it is the most complex structure in the known universe and we still do not understand how it really works.

Edit: Regarding these psychiatric diagnoses - I think there are too many of them and everybody might be classified to have some at certain level - and if there is someone without any (not really likely), there will be new diagnosis for sure soon, otherwise it would be special diagnosis for not having any. :D

There are many genetic disorders that are in everyone in varying degrees of severity. This includes things like Autism, OCD, Dyslexia etc. Mental health carries such a stigma surrounding it, so it doesn't surprise me that many choose not to talk about it. Even simple cases of depression and anxiety are usually ignored. But sometimes I find it to be the opposite however, especially in workplaces. Depression and anxiety is the focus, whilst neurological disorders are ignore entirely. I totally agree with you Radim, I wish I could rep you. And GSS, I agree with you as well. Can't rep you either.

I too am glad that this forum is very empathetic with each other. We have a very good international community on here. :thanks:

That sure is a sign of OCD when someone keep editing their posts:)
Ok, some is for more useful info or success from a question asked but most of mind is from fear of not wording proper or proper tact.
I think i'm good as far as not to edit this post:thinking:
Anyway's, Alex why was the thread of your 532 labbie taken down with the TEM talk and advice?

Edit:eek: @Curtis, I swear this one was strickly a question I forgot to ask??

Exactly GSS. I do think I have some OCD as well. Tact and wording is my biggest concern. I'm kind of a perfectionist.
So are you.
