Wow ! I am beyond touched and stunned by your gesture, man - simply he fact that you thought to include me in your prayers and everything else means the world to me, thanks.

Hey, Thats what are friends are for. Its the least I can do.
Besides With all the injuries I have had, including the ones that have prevented me from working, I know where you are coming from.
Although I refuse to let ANY one do surgery on me just yet. My back hurts every friggin day, but its not bad enough for me to get cut on. Besides with my foot, knees, shoulder, eyes and my corporal tunnel, I hardly notice my back pain! ;D

Anyways Godspeed in your recovery.

Wow! Just having joined the forum yesterday, ordered from you today, and now I find you're going in for back surgery! Busy forum.

For what it may be worth, my wife had a spinal fusion a long time ago when she was 15. Not sure what the L numbers were, but it was in the small of her back, three of them were fused. She's - well, I'll just say it was a few years ago (..............) and today I watched her outside lugging 80 pound sacks of lime around and digging in her gardens. So something must have worked, as when she finally had the fusion, she had been unable to get out of her bed for three days. In addition to that, her doctor now had said something along the lines that the techniques for spinal fusion are SO much better now than they were back then that it's a wonder anyone actually got better back then.

So if Deb can do that well with the old techniques, I expect you'll be doing extremely well once the swelling goes down and the healing completes.

And I wish you the best of luck - I truly hope you have the best possible experience.

WHo knows - maybe you'll have a conversation with a doctor about lasers that will get him thinking, and you'll wind up being a catalyst for a whole new laser-surgical procedure that will save people pain in the future! You never know... Life's funny. :)

And do yourself a favor - if you've gone this long without smoking - keep going! You're already past the hardest point - it gets easier every day after this!

Best of luck,

Here's wishing you good luck and a speedy recovery.

I know 3 people who've had similar procedures and they all came out of it saying it was a good thing and stopped their pain.

You have my personal sympathy too - I've got 2 herniated discs but they say the symptoms don't match the MRI so they don't think a procedure is advisable.  But mine just causes numbness in my arm - Lower-back must be a bitch.

SenKat/Greg, the best of luck to you! I know about back pain - may be heading for that surgery myself before too long, the doc mentioned it...
when that pain is happening, it's really hard to get anything done - I need to take a few Vicodin just to sit at the computer sometimes.
Now I know why sometimes you sound like a grumpy sob ;)
...but when that pain goes away everything seems rosy!
that's why you're so sweet the rest of the time ;D
(or maybe that's when I'm on Vicodin?)

take care...
