So Im still not sure whether be concerned, or if its just a no big deal thing. Today I was out of the house going to pick up dinner. While I was waiting inside the place for them to make the food (I was picking it up) I look outside and I see a tank on the back of a truck.

So obviously I am surprised to see this. I didn't have my phone on me (left it in my car) to get a photo or video, but even if I did I wouldn't of had time to get a picture.

After I got my food I tried speeding down the road in the direction I saw it going to see if I could get photo, or video evidence. But the streets were busy so I didn't make it far.

I am just wondering, why the hell would a truck be transporting a tank near where I live.

I still find this very strange.

Ever seen a truck being airlifted by a helicopter over your house? Now THAT is strange :D

It was most likely on a truck because driving a tank around on a public road is probably illegal, they also consume a shitload of fuel, are relatively slow, and usually tear up whatever surface they drive on. They usually go by truck if they need to be transported around.

Homeland security is distributing many armored vehicles to local police departments, almost 300 so far, and they are considering applications from 750 more right now. That could have something to do with it, it may have been on its way to a nearby city or county police department however these will normally be some type of armored military vehicle other than tanks.

We have enough members to be a small town. What say the Vets become this town's police department and we get us an LPF tank?

Was it a tank or an APC? If it's a full on tank I'd be concerned, if it's just an APC then given it's America I wouldn't be surprised if it's just for the local police department...

It was a tank. I'll give them the benefit and hope that it was for a museum or something.

On the back of a truck is fine, when you see one driving down the street in your neighbourhood then you need to worry! :scared:

exactly, lol.

iirc most cities have their own ammunition depot(s) , So they fly/move in new stuff all the time, part of military training or where exams and stuff are held, atleast to my knowledge.

As a former military member it is not uncommon for the Dod to move equipment through populated areas. Is there a military base some were close to you. If that is the case then its not uncommon for the truck with a tank to go through were you live! If you have a Nation Guard unit or reserve unit that deals with tanks or apc if its a infantry unit still not that uncommon. we use to move our bradleys by truck for static displays for fairs and other events. The only time i would be worried if they were on the ground and there was more than one

Even in war, tanks are usually transported by train or truck much closer to where they actually need to be deployed.

As Things mentioned, trucks get really lousy mileage, and really tear up whatever road they are on.

Hmm... so where do we plant our flag to establish a new town? My one prerequisite is that we must get google fiber to wire the new town... after that I can work from there, and stream videos at the same time.

I was thinking an off-shore barge near the western US coast. Running fiber from California would be cheaper than running it from CA all the way to Antartica ;)

Reminds me, I need to see if anything new regarding google fiber in my area :p
