A resistor program!!!!

This is the program for all those who simply can't stand deciphering and coding the color strips on resistors... this does it for you!

It's just 800 lines or so, (not the biggest thing in the world) but it really helps!

Right now, it has the following features:

-Pattern to ohms,
-Ohms value to pattern,
-Animated pattern display,
-Ohms simplification
-Fairly fast entry,
-No known software bugs. (If you only put in valid patterns, and values, the program will not crash.)

Attached is the program, and a movie of the program in action!
(Please note that the movie is fairly slow, so the 'animation' I've put in is a little weird... it runs much better than that in reality)

Please note that it's only for windows, currently. If anyone really wants to have a Mac version, it does take a little work, (I actually have to translate the code and rebuild the interface), but I can do it. I don't know how many of you have Macs, though.

So by saying to use a junk computer are you implying this is malware?

No.

Since malware would harm your computer, you would want to use a computer that you don't mind being harmed to 'test' something that you think might be malware.

It isn't malware, though. I'm just saying that people would probably think that it's malware.

Toaster, it may give you an error if you put in too many significant digits.

Thus, putting in '1230 ohms' will give you an error, as a 3-stripe resistor has only two stripes for significant digits. I'll make an update that will tell you why you got the error in the program...

BTW, I'm glad that someone was brave enough to download it...

Known bugs, or things that will give you an error message: (these will not crash your computer; the program will just display "Error")

• If you input a ohms number that's too big, or less than 1
• If you input an ohms number that has too many significant digits
• If you input a color pattern that has a multiplier value that's too big,
  the "multiplier" value being the last color in the chain

Here is the virus scan for anyone that is interested.
2/42 scans detected malware, usually anything that has less than 3-5 false positives is clean. I've only seen a couple of programs have zero detected, so I'm pretty sure this is malware free. Anyways, this is a good program, I personally use the back of a resistor pack that I have stapled above my workbench to decipher color codes, but I still like this :gj:. Did you write the program?
