Why is the rep system even the way it used to be?
The rep system I like the best is the one that takes away half a point of rep for you when you give 1 point away. It gives it Value.

@trendkilla254 Clicking on "new posts" includes all new threads in all sections of the forum. Hard to ignore but not impossible. My comment was about seeing a lot of it for a laser forum.

I agree as well I like the old limit better too.
A lot of you guys are missing the key problem which is rep abuse mainly negative.
They need to find a way to set a limit to how many times you can neg rep a given person per X amount of time.
The other issue like Alaskan said was repping old inactive accounts
They need to make it so you cant rep a post that's years old.
but IIRC in the old rep thread that caused the change I don't think the rep setting had an option for that.
That was the issue all along anyway.

@lazerman121 I'm no pro but I do not believe vbulletin can support such options. Whatever this rep system is you people should just live without it. Reminds me of youtube members begging for likes and subscribers all the damn time. Let it go. It's meaningless.

The new rules were kind of a compromise. Ideally those rules would be the best way to go, but there is no way within the options available in the VB control panel to automatically prevent rep of old accounts or posts, or to limit how many times you can rep a certain person in x period of time. The only way to do those things would be to have the mods manually remove the offending reps if they are reported to the staff.

Wouldn't be surprised. He hasn't added anything, and the account was made the day after VG was banned. He's just trying to get us riled up. As the age old saying goes, "don't feed the trolls".
