ABOUT DANCE MARATHON!

I've been busy this year with school and just as important a great organization. I am a part of Dance Marathon at the University of Iowa, and it has undoubtedly been the best experience of my life. In just over 3 weeks it happens again and all our work preparing for the event comes to fruition. For 24 hours we dance to forget about pediatric cancer and celebrate the lives of those who have been impacted by it. The money that is raised goes towards many things, but most importantly it provides the impacted families with emotional and financial support. Last year $1,529,650.19 was raised! The event takes place Feb 7th-8th and there will be a live feed if you want to watch!

I know first hand how this money helps the families and they are EXTREMELY grateful for the help that you provide them! From prescriptions to hospital bills and even gift vouchers.

POSSIBLE RAFFLE!!

So there is a possible raffle going on to help raise money for these kids.
So far THE GRAND PRIZE consists of:

$50 paypal/amazon
1 x 50mw mxdl pen laser w/10440 battery and a pair of safety glasses. - Thanks to Tmack!

I'm thinking about selling the tickets between $10-$20 depending on the outlook! More people willing to participate the better! I would like to have all the tickets sold by Next Friday 1/24 for sure.

Okay, so I'd like to get some pledges for the raffle. You do not have to donate now (unless you want

). Just pledge that you would like to be in the raffle. If the raffle doesn't happen then, nothing happens. I'd like to sell the tickets for this raffle at $10 a piece with the current prizes. Then, hopefully Friday, if the raffle is full/has enough people, I'll send a pm to everyone to donate. Once that happens we'll do the drawing!

Really inspiring. People tend to shy away from the topic because of the difficult subject, especially with th kids. Thank you for being the one that raises awareness, and funds to help such a great cause.

Walking the pediatric cancer floor at the hospital isn't the most fun thing in the world, but when you get to see these kids get to be kids again there are just no words. The struggles that they have to put up with on a daily basis are incredible and nothing in my life can compare to them. Especially seeing them first hand through my family

Taos are the strongest people In the world. I heard a case of a girl on that was terminal. She said she didn't want to die in January because it was her mothers birth month. She didnt want to ruin her moms birthday. She passed on February 1st. That's strength that's far beyond and normal 6year old. I heard this story and cried throughout the day when I thought of it. These kids are so amazing how strong they are , when they don't even understand why the disease has "chosen " them. I think the sort time they have here, teaches us more than those on this earth for an entire lifetime. God bless them and their families.

If you do a raffle I have a 50mw pen ill give to the winner. If enough people see this and add to the prize it could be a substantial one.

Come on guys. What do you have to give. Even if its not cash, I know we all have something to add to the prize. It's for the kids. I have a 18 month old son. If he were sick I would appreciate all the help I could get.

I could do like a $50 prize or something along those lines or I could do what I said and give people who donate a certain amount a green laser pen.

I've seen this happen before. It was a handful of people putting toward the final prize. By the end the prize was very nice. It was auction style and went up to $350 . The winner got all the items that accumulated thought the auction. If a bunch of us throw in what we can, the raffle will be very appealing.

Come on guys. We can buy lasers so I think we can set aside a few dollars to help some of these kids get some joy in their lives. We take it for granted that we are fortunate enough to enjoy an expensive hobby like this. Lets show these unbelievably strong children that they are in our hearts. Even if its something small, if we all put forth an effort, we can make a difference in someone's life. All those innocent kids need our help.
