I ordered a "pyrotechnics starter kit", so to speak:

-2 pounds potassium nitrate
-1 pound of potassium permanganate
-1 pound of calcium carbide
-1 (more) pound of magnesium powder
-500mL of 70% nitric acid
-500mL of 93% sulfuric acid

And I already have a pound of magnesium powder and some homemade nitrocellulose lacquer (to bind chemicals). This will be fun!

Thanks Mark, but I have already tried ebay - both orders were taken by customs for containing "suspicious substances" from a private sender. Skylighter do not ship outside the US and unitednuclear say "Because oxidizers can be used to make explosives, new regulations only allow us to sell a total of 16 ounces to a customer per year".
I have already used my 16 ounces :(

By the way I really hope all your problems get better soon, I hate bad drivers.. I hate bad salesmen, I hate backstabbers and I hate it when pets die. You must be going through a pretty rough time!

Sorry to hear your unfortunate situation. I'm not sure if these guys ship outside of the US or not, but they've got pretty cheap prices and they will sell you any quantity you want.

Never give up, we all go through really rough times where everything seems to go wrong, eventually things start going well again and you manage to sort it all out. And don't worry about that element GB cause it's not like we are gonna die from not having some lumps of metal right away ;) I'll mail you my new address if the dealer should drag out past the time I move to a new flat. My 1,000th post

I have discovered a high-energy firestarter. It is a mixture of magnesium powder, granulated sugar, and nitrocellulose. I'm going to use these to start other pyrotechnic mixtures if necessary, and also carry them to build fires on mountaineering trips if necessary.
