PS3 Hacked; Exploit now released

I hoping you will be able to "upgrade" from 3.21 firmware to Geohot firmware. He certainly seems quite skilled & if he has retained OtherOS together with psn then I wouldn't be surprised if he also gets it to appear as a higher version then 3.21 to the PS3 (or otherwise allows an upgrade). Of course at the same time it can't be permitted reveal itself as modified (or above 3.21) to psn. Since Geohot hasn't publicly released his fw yet we don't know. I guessing hes still debugging / checking for flaws.

At some point PS3s will start showing up with 3.21 factory installed so upgrading to Geohot fw will need to be addressed.

Aren't they always sold with the latest firmware?

nah i don't think they are...

In the factory, they'll almost always be leaving the doors with the latest firmware, but you can't force updates to consoles when they're boxed, in transport, etc - so there's a lag between release of a new firmware, and new consoles on the shelves having the firmware.
