Power Steering?

Looking to buy a Corsa because its cheap and affordable to be my first car, my one and only requirement is that it has power steering and I cant seam to find any info on the cheapest one I found.

Its a 1995 M Reg VAUXHALL Corsa 1.2 Merit 5DR if anyone knows where to look, I cant find much on google or anywhere. Please no, why not get one of these... they are so much better replies... Insurance for a new driver in England is ridiculously high, I am going to be paying just over £1,500 a year on the above car.

dude that insurance cost is unbelievable, especially for a corsa! i guess in germany you could drive a bmw 5er with that money...

i'm not sure i get your question right, you want to know wether or not that model has a power steering?

my suggestion would be look for someone who wants to sell it and ask...

Yeah, trouble in England is any new driver is totally ripped off for their first years insurance when they first start driving. Seams to be that they think to stop younger people having accidents they will put their insurance up so high that the average person can barely afford it.

Thats actually the cheapest I have found anything above 1.2 or anything thats not a corsa seams to be £2,200+. One of my quotes was around £8,000...

Yeah though, all I need to know is if that model has power steering. I have driven my instructors Nissan Micra for around 8 months and my dads 2002 Ford Mondeo for about 2 months now and they both have power steering which is so easy to use. At times you can easily turn the wheel in the Micra with my little finger.

that's similar in germany, but to pay that much for that car you'd have to destroy 3 other cars the day you buy it... ;D
i think the rates for younger drivers are that high b/c they cause more accidents. now that i have my license for eight years and insurance would be reasonable i finally sold my car, since i moved into the city two years ago and don't need a car anymore...

back to your problem, i'd look for some cars in your range, and if it's not in the description just ask the seller, i'm sure he won't charge you for that

Few years ago I had a 1995 N reg corsa Arizona 2dr it had no power steering and was very basic, but It's ok with no power steering the corsa's so small and light espically with the small 1.2 engine that the wheel was easy to turn without it. Oh yeah this was my first car also about 4 years ago it cost me £1250 to insurance it for 3rd party fire and theft, but the second year was only £850 suprising drop in price for just 1 years no claims. No idea what it would be now though with 4 years no claims sold that car about 2 years ago.

Unless I buy a 1960s VW Beetle the Corsa is the cheapest for me, I found that out myself and then found a website saying it is the cheapest after doing their own research of the top 10. I haven't actually passed my practical test yet : but I passed the theory with flying colours and I have my practical test on 6th Feb which I am pretty confident in.

I know its going to be easy to turn because its a very light car but even still compared to a car with power steering its going to be a lot harder. I can go for a test drive but I need to get a L badge and have my dad or someone with a full license and had it for 4 years I think it is with me.

What insurance company was that with? Cheapest I have is £1.5k that will go down to £700 after one years no claims. Oh and this £1.5k is on comprehensive, DirectLine seam to be cheaper on comprehensive than third party fire and theft for some odd reason.

My insurance was orignally with churchill but it you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere, have you tried using confused.com or other comparison websites?

I have used gocompare and moneysupermarket but they are all hovering around £2,000. I did a little research myself on different sites and came across directline.

I can keep looking around for other ones but I have cut £500 off of my original quote from the comparison sites.

with direct line is that a quote for 10 months or a year, as my cousin got it for 10 months thinking he had just got a good deal on a years insurence, then next year when it came to renewing it he tried to change insurence company and they said it doesn't count as 1 years no claims so he had to go back with direct line which at the time was more expensive

Argh, that would suck.

I THINK its 1 year, I will double check then when I am home. Dirty little trick that is, I would have to pay 2 years at £1,500 before I get the no claims bonus.
