I would like to add that before thoes people using the hard drugs die we will be picking up there hospital bills for many years. while on the other hand I must say all the people I know that smoke pot most are 30 or above each and every one of them have jobs, houses , children and pretty much lead a normal life just the oppisit of your experance with people who smoke pot, which seem to be all young people that don't know there way yet, so I would guess it matters which part of life you look at as to what your results will be !

The people I know who use hard drugs will surely die within 10-15 years, making their negative impact on other people even smaller. All they are doing is messing up their own life.

I don't see how pot is better than cigarettes. It does the same basic damage to your lungs, blood cells, heart and so on while actually being somewhat worse because it is rarely smoked through a filter. Unlike cigarettes it has a powerful drugging effect which not only makes you stupid but also makes you lazy and careless, resulting in a failed education and things like car accidents.

In fact I don't think there are that many hospital bills.. they tend to overdose and die before anyone can get them treated. With any kind of smoking on the other hand, they are more likely to end up in hospital for months if not years, costing an incredibly huge amount of money.

I have to agree with you on the second part though - there seems to be a very large difference between the consequences of smoking pot depending on age. People who function pretty well, have a family and job, seem to continue functioning pretty well.

However, even if the problem is mainly with youth.. it is still a huge problem!

Same here. 95% of my friends have good jobs, families, and nice houses. They are doing better than me come to think about it LOL. My GFs parents and aunt smoke pot and they are doing really well for themselves.

I can honestly say I've never seen anyone turn violent from smoking pot unless they already were the violent type to begin with. It must be your culture or programing in you country Seb. Hell...Amsterdam is one of the least violent cities to live in. And most of all the violence that does occur comes from the drunks. Canada too.

well lets ask ourselves these questions

a man at a baseball game is being loud, violet and screaming at people. is he drunk or high?

you see a man sitting in a garage on a recliner with a bag of chips watching cartoons, is he drunk or high?

you see your friend just staring at awe at nature, did he smoke a bit of orange kush or did he have a few shots of jagermeister?

personally I think if your high or drunk you shouldn't drive, if your drunk you can barely keep the car in the center of the road and you have trouble functioning.

if your high and trying to drive, everything seems to be going lightspeed at you (although you seem to park better and concentrate more but I'm not going in to that)

anyhoo...a person is less likely to beat/maim/murder someone high than while they are drunk. I can't think of one violet or angry person that was smoking pot, at most I've seen was my friend a little mad we only had 120 pizza rolls and 2 bags of ruffles cheddar..

Like anything, if used with prudence and in moderation, a little weed is nothing compared to the countless drunks sitting in bars and then coming home to beat the wife and mistreat the kids.

I think age does play a big role, kids are effected differently by THC than adults are.

Pot always made me want to sit quietly in a corner with that stupid grin on my face. I figured I was missing out on all the fun. So I quit smoking it.

Pot doesn't make young people troubled. Troubled young people self-medicate with psychoactive substances (including nicotine). By the time they get older, most of the troubled ones are either homeless, in jail, or dead. That only leaves the more gentle users in society.
