Still, I don't get it...when I was in the US, everybody was totally anti-squirrel, like if there was one crossing the road, everybody was shouting "run over it, run over it!", whereas here in Germany everybody is like "aww cute, a squirrel!"
Am I missing something here? Was there a squirrel plague theatening to diminish the native english population on this world? Are squirrels terrorists?

I mean, I did laugh. But still I don't get why specifically squirrels.

Around these parts, we call them tree rats. ;D
They are a rodent which can cause damage if not controled.

we don't get too many of them here in South Florida, so we're more like "awww, look at the cute squirrel" when we see them.
our version of "rodents" are more like mosquitoes, roaches, and bums... :-/

The grey squirrel is a native American breed and is an invader in the UK, it carries a nasty disease that kills our native red squirrel (which there is no known vaccine). The invader came over to the UK probably in ships 200+ years ago whilst the slave trading was going on, In the UK they are treated as vermin and are allowed to be culled ;) I personally think they taste good in a casserole and will shoot to eat as well as kill vermin....
Using them for entertainment via a catapult system is bloody hilarious ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Don't be fooled by there sweet little faces :D

because it's not possible to accelerate CO2-pellets to the speed of light - or what were you talking about???

Well, I think an ordinary gun is slightly cheaper, handier and more portable than a CO2-laser with the required output power and focusing...

Still...aiming carefully, and you'd get 100% hits, as there is no "time to run"

Argh ! When I lived in Jacksonville, Florida we had an OLD (50 + years) house that the squirells LOVEd to chew through the soffit, and get into the attic to frollic in the wee hours ! We solved that by installing that vinyl soffit and fascia all around the roof line...the little shits couldn;t get in for ANYTHING after that ! LOL !! They would hang upside down, trying to claw their little way into the house....no dice ! :)
