PAYPAL PROBLEMS STEALING EBAY SELLER's MONEY!

Lately paypal has been limiting a lot of ebay sellers accounts for no reason... Also note, paypal frozen account= defacto banning from ebay. Ebay forces you to use payflow with your existing merchant account which is a PAYPAL product so you are really SOL. More often than not if they locked your account, they send this to you...

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

We have reviewed your PayPal Account, and due to the excessive risk
involved, we would like to begin parting ways in a manner that is least
disruptive to your business.

(Please.... Save it... like holding 15K hostage for 8 months and counting isn't disruptive!)

Please reply to this email by logging in to your PayPal account and filling
out the Limited Account Access web form to facilitate the disbursement of
any funds remaining in your PayPal account. You can locate the web form by
typing the following in your browser: https://www.paypal.com/emailus,
choosing the topic "Limited Account Access," clicking "Continue," and
writing your instructions in the message box.

(Oh wait, the account is locked, you cannot log in!)

Disbursement can be handled in one of two ways:

1. Your remaining account balance can be used to provide refunds to your
buyers (if applicable).

(PP locks you account after 4 refunds or disputes in a week now, so refunding your buyers for damage control is out)

OR

2. Your remaining account balance will be held in your PayPal account for
180 days from the date your account was limited. After 180 days, you will
be notified via email with information on how to receive your remaining
funds.

(Actually they send you a legal notice that they wish to keep your balance as "liquidated damages" according to 5.7 of their user agreement..)

If you choose to provide refunds to your customers, please log in to your
account and contact us with a list of transaction IDs for the buyers that
you would like to refund.

(You are only allowed 4 non-disputed refunds)

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

Sincerely,
Gina

I keep my PP balance as close to 0$ as possible. That is unless I have a purchase to make.

Followed that link and seen people complaining that their $40K was frozen... Why in the world would somebody keep a $40K balance in PP is beyond me...

My account was temp frozen once. I had some douche who felt it would be a good idea to receive his item and charge-back after the fact. The tracking was not updated on the USPS system as received, and they granted the money to this scammer..

My account fell into a neg balance and this is why they froze it. I made a phone call to PP and was back up and running within 1/2 hour, and was reimbursed by Canada post a month later through the insurance I paid for when shipping.

So out of 3 years, other than excessive fees, I have personally had zero problems with them.

BTW, if one was to purchase that book in the link, would we send our 27$ to PP??

@ Chris.....

I've been using PayPal for years as a seller on eBay....
I have no problems with PayPal (except for their high fees)

Why are YOU always posting about YOUR problems with PayPal..
Could there be another common denominator....

IDK... I'm just saying... there are 2 sides to a coin and I can't
see PayPal responding here...

@ wannaburn.... exactly... the PP account hits >$1K I withdraw
when the exchange rate is good...

The target range of accounts that paypal freezes is between $2K and $20K a month. if you make less than 2K a month, you'll probably be OK- If you make over 20K a month, than paypal has a financial interest in keeping you because the money they make off fees. The large balances come from the "rolling reserve" or from the "21 day holds" here is what paypal is doing to new ebay sellers that make a lot of cash quickly. First, put them on a 21 day or until FB is left hold. The hold is on most credit card transactions, and most int'l transactions whither funded by CC or not. Next paypal at day 20 temporarily freezes the account, if they determine you are a "high business risk" they will either freeze your account and take your money or put your account on a 90 day rolling reserve of 20 to 60% of your gross sales...

Then generally at day 89 they will permanently lock your account and take the money in reserve. Since they KNOW there is no other competing service and that they are basically untouchable by the law they can do this, and get away with it.

You are registered in Canada, so you may be safe for a little while. US PP account holders are the ones getting the most axing, but with that being said, .. i had no problems... you just jinxed yourself.

I have noticed some oddities with the exchange... Keep your eyes on those sneaky
bastards...

I exchange through my bank now. I noticed when I made a purchase for 20$ us, they hit me for 21.50 on exchange, but when I tred to convert my remaining funds, I would have only made 4$ on 500$????

I dont trust their exchange at all, and transfer my balance as is in US. My bank takes care of the rates, and does not screw me around.

I keep a google checkout account just in case PP loses their minds in the great white north ;)

For what they charge in fees alone, we should have our choice of a blonde or brunette weekly IMO

Just a heads up on flashdrives. Be VERY leary when purchasing them on Ebay!

ALOT of the flashdrives (as well as other memory dependent devices) can be easily hacked to show WAY larger capacity than they really are.

I purchased a couple of 64GB drives a while back and they did show as 64GB when plugged into the computer. But they were hacked 2GB drives and useless above 2GB. I used a program called "h2testw" to verify they had been hacked.

After a long dispute with PP/ebay, and providing **proof**, I finally got my money back and the seller was de-registered.

PP/Ebay, even wanted me to send the drives back to a different sellers address than they were shipped from. (at my expense of course)
The return to address didn't even exist as far as I could tell.

A good waring... I had also purchased a 32G some time back and the same crap. Unfortunately I hadn't used the drive right away and never pursued it. It was only 20$ but still money lost.

Way back I bought a 4GB memory stick for my PSP, but it was 4 giga bits, not bytes...

Paypal didn't give me a penny.

heru.....

I've bid on a few things of your on ebay. Didn't you get into trouble for shill bidding?
I remember every thing i bid on was always outbid by the same person, and then you'd send me a second chance offer.

I see how them trying to keep your funds is wrong (assuming all buyers have been refunded and all disputes have been corrected)
But it shouldn't have come to that anyways. 4 disputes in one week? It just makes someone wonder what you were doing wrong to piss off that many customers so quickly.

I've lost money plenty of times with dealings here and on ebay. But i can honestly say i don't think there is one person who would refuse to do business with me, and i try to keep it that way.
