Unintended, but often these types of videos end up being bate to be challenged with fever by those who have highly divergent world views, for that I apologize, I'm not posting this for those individuals, but for the others who might find value in it:

I found the videos at the following link very interesting, but I have a big appetite for such things.

I have not listened to George Noory in quite sometime but I remember some shows on this subject. I have heard about this for tens of years, some of the shows I listen to on Dark Matter or Inception have recently done shows on this subject.

I was a Buddhist for more than two years and they thought that you had to be reincarnated 10,000 times to reach enlightenment. I very much hope that isn't true. I myself believe we only have to live one life here, but I also believe there are exceptions to every rule. There is another possible explanation other than reincarnation why people could remember past lives but I won't go there because we will have to bring religion and the supernatural into the discussion and that must be in the religion thread.

It is interesting that the info people remember can sometimes be verified. To me reincarnation makes no sense because if you loose your knowledge and experience then what is the purpose of it, maybe we retain a part of it, that might explain why some people are smart and others are idiots, or why some have certain talents. I would also like to point out that if it's real then that means consciousness isn't in the brain.

I hope Teej doesn't see this.

I've mulled this idea over for decades now, researched the subject online quite a bit and when it comes down to whether there is a soul or not I'm somewhat divided on the subject. To have a soul would mean we as individuals existed before we had a body and will continue to exist as separate beings after the body is gone. When reincarnation is brought into the mix, this implies a soul can come back time after time to live another life. While there is strong evidence this is what is happening, or can happen, I don't understand the function due to the reports of having access to a collective consciousness where everything and anything can be known, once we cross over. So, what is the point of learning here?

My best idea on a reason to cycle through lives is simply to add diversity to the whole, being individual and living a life here adds experience to the pool. I sometimes wonder if these experiences aren't like Gold to the other side, allowing new perspective, new paths of thought to explore, so giving something back to the thing I'm calling the collective as a Borg kind of sharing, but not the evil side of it where joining is forced instead of allowing free will to be separate. Now that I'm writing about these kinds of things and speculating so heavily on the possibilities, I realize this kind of subject is likely blood in the water for sharks to come and gobble me up for entertaining such ideas, but there are so many possibilities for us if life does indeed continue, that consciousness operates through the brain instead of being created by it.

When pondering on the idea of individuality and reincarnation, I keep thinking if you look at this from a top down viewpoint that we are all the same life sticking its fingers into human gloves, individual fingers poking through into this reality, but the same hand behind it all, in essence. Although I wonder if we can't remain individual beyond our lives here for aeons of time or not, reincarnation supports this. For many years I completely dismissed the thought there could be anything to reincarnation, but the more I see the more I believe this might be how it is, all of the reasons for it a mystery to me, except for the idea we might simply be experience generators to create diversity. In computer language, a bunch of subroutines running on the mainframe.

The study of reports from young children which indicate they have lived before are very interesting, I wonder though, are they tapping into another life someone else had, or their own? Perhaps this is all moot if we are all really one thing living individual lives as if separate.

I consider myself reasonably open to spiritual ideas, but I've never particularly believed in reincarnation. If our life here was some kind of test to determine the worthiness of a soul, then what would be the point of sending them back after one life? I guess if you believe in Buddhist teaches it might make sense. Your consciousness keeps getting sent back until you've achieved true enlightenment and then you ascend to a higher plane of spiritual existence.

I like some of the Buddhist ideas, but Buddha kept saying "no soul", yet he espoused reincarnation exists. To me this can only mean that we are all part of a larger life, that souls aren't really separate individuals, although we function as such while here on Earth and I expect, for some distance beyond. From what I believe are honest and sincere NDE reports, some have tipped their toe into the collective spiritual pool and have come back to report we remain individual on the other side too. At least, from those reports, if you can give them credence, I gather we are indeed individuals who continue to exist after the death of the body, for how long and how far is my current question.

For myself, the concept of being part of One-life isn't difficult to see as the broader reality anymore, but once coming to see that, then individuality becomes the mystery. Perhaps we are the One-life exploring individuality and most of the mystery exists here, not on the other side. From that side; individuality extremely interesting to them due to having a strong sense of oneness, but from this side; spirituality very interesting to me due to a strong sense of separateness. Maybe the great amount of diversity human beings can have with such varied perspective drives the wheel of reincarnation forward, that the Oneness or all that is desires to experience more individuality, thus separates out a part of itself to be born into the world? Maybe after 10,000 lives we gain enlightenment, that enlightenment being: Don't go there no more, going towards oneness instead.

I'm not at all wanting to clash with religious dogmas in this thread, but because religion speaks of an afterlife, I cannot avoid it, that and opening yourself up in public with such ideas and wondering's is really asking for it, in such a cross section of society. Personally, I don't see the concept of an afterlife as necessarily religious in nature and instead as the framework which religion has drawn upon. Religion but a small slice of the pie cooked up as best we could to explain what awaits us. Some really love pie! Apple, Cherry, Rhubarb, Strawberry, Mud... All good but having their own flavors. I like strawberry with whipped cream on top, strawberry cheesecake my favorite but maybe that isn't really pie? I can see it coming now; "No, your favorite is fruit nut cake", which is a completely valid way of thinking from some perspectives :p

Cheers to the perspectives! It's what life is made of.
